Before I have to hear how bad is AllDay is because of his fumblitis from one more disgruntled tunnel-vision Vike fan or gloating Cheesecurd, here are some numbers to ponder on this New Years Eve:

Adrian Peterson – 45 games, 20 fumbles: Avg. 0.44 fumbles per game
Jim Brown – 118 games, 57 fumbles: Avg. 0.48 fumbles per game
Walter Payton – 190 games, 86 fumbles: Avg. 0.45 fumbles per game
Barry Sanders – 153 games, 41 fumbles: Avg. 0.27 fumbles per game
OJ Simpson – 135 games, 62 fumbles: Avg. 0.45 fumbles per game

Adrian Peterson – 3 years, 20 fumbles: Avg. 6.6 fumbles per year
Jim Brown – 9 years, 57 fumbles. Avg: 6.3 fumbles per year
Walter Payton – 13 years, 86 fumbles: Avg. 6.6 fumbles per year
Barry Sanders – 10 years, 41 fumbles: Avg. 4.1 fumbles per year
OJ Simpson – 11 years, 62 fumbles: Avg. 5.6 fumbles per year

Credit to Smudgers over at the Daily Norseman, but it should be posted on every article that mentions Adrian dropping the ball.

Now, this is not an excuse, by any means. Peterson needs to protect the ball better. Great runners fight for those yards, and sometimes it is going to backfire. My own view is that he simply needs to top flaring his elbow and keep it tucked tight to his ribs.

Oh yes, and those numbers were dug up by a BEARS fan over at the Windy City Gridiron. Props to Smudge.

Here's some links, in case you don't generally peruse some of the best NFL blogs on the internet.

Why did it take Frazier 2 weeks and 2 games of getting burned to realize Winfield needed some help on the field? How about making some adjustments during the game? Instead of blitzing and leaving him to defend one-on-one for the winning touchdown?

Winfield, as great as he is, should not be playing right now. He is a step and a half slower than the opponents best wide receiver.

No one is perfect. We all make mistakes, and hopefully we learn by them. If we know what our problem is, and then fail to do anything about it then we have learned nothing. Old habits are hard to break. Practice running with the ball in your hand and arm with that arm strapped down.
I still don't blame Adrian for that fumble, especially when someone is pulling on your face mask, and there is an official right on top of the play that needs an eye exam.

In the past three years, Adrian Peterson has fumbled 13 times. No other non-QB has fumbled more than nine times. Bench him.

statsistics are for losers, other players fumbles have no bearing on Peterson, when a fumble costs a team a big game, you cant say well Sanders fumbled a lot too..

This play that they grabbed adrian"s facemask that was reviewed should showed the play but they only called fumble why? because it was not called on the field and they have no authority to call a penalty from the review box.
The replay offical's in the nfl and collage are getting worse each year why? again is it the gambler's who control the game or what? whatever it is the nfl need's to fine offical's like they do player's for mistakes. go viking's.

Traede him for a QB, or trade for a 1-5 pick to get one. Unacceptable to drop the ball that many times. How many of those fumbles have occured after he has gotten the yards that are needed? Exactly! Trade him and start Chester. I personaly think that he is a better all around back anyway.

I hear the Giants have many players hurt on both sides of the ball & they will sitting them for the VIKES game so if Dallas can win that 2nd seed will be the VIKES but anything can happen so keep your fingers crossed GO VIKINGS

Because A) a replay can not be used to call a penalty and B) an inadvertent face mask used to be a five yard penalty but they changed that rule so it is not a penalty anymore.

I was reading on here last week what some guy said that he was a X NFL player that said something like your post here. he said the games was fixed just to much money so maybe he was for real. I dont think they are but hay you never know sometimes I think why did they run that play was no reason for it but like I said I dont think it is

Gorgo please learn the rules before claiming to know them. Yes the inadvertent facemask is gone...all facemasks are now Major Facemasks...they have taken the judgment call away from the officials...any facemask is 15 yards.
