You have to pamper them only if you lose. Good thing is, Parcells doesn't lose much. Notice how hunky dory everything is in NE with Randy Moss. The guy is a machine, put him back in Oakland and he doesn't even try. Same with TO. Aside from his comments after Dallas lost a few weeks back, you haven't heard much.
Hopefully Parcells can get these guys to win. Of course he won't be the coach so it will be interesting to see how it works out.
Although I NEVER thought I'd see it, there are rumors that Cam could stay on and be demoted, that's why he hasn't been fired. I've never heard of this, but who knows.
You're right Bill won't be the coach, but he will get them to win using his messages through coaches just like he used with Wisenhunt on Becht.

I haven't heard anything about Cam being demoted (except for my own speculation), but the reason I heard about him not being fired yet had more to do with Parcells waiting until he had a GM in place.

I agree with you that Parcells will want his opinion to be taken. However with NFL rules the new GM must have total control.
Where are you getting your info, because this isn't true? No where does it state the GM must have total control. When Saban was the coach Mueller was the GM and didn't have total control.

Moss has been motivated in New England because the Patriots have a roster full of highly self-motivated players and a Coaching staff that is the best in the NFL at game planning.
Moss is motivated, because they are winning. Moss is a cry baby, if the team isn't getting him the ball and they aren't winning he's crying. On the other hand, if they are winning he's the greatest wr in the history of the league bar none (Rice included). Moss should be the league MVP not Brady. Brady has had such an easy time this year, because Moss has opened everything up for the Pats.

Well..If I have a choice of lazy training camps, Jason Taylor running his mouth, and 38 year old vets getting run over then having the audacity of talking like they're super bowl champs...versus 2 a days, humble hard working players, and a dictator at the helm who demands results.....EVen if both yield 1-15 record I still like the latter.
Well put Pepe. At least that way we know they gave it their all. If they just aren't good enough and go 1-15 so be it, but if the effort isn't there...

Excellent article!

This is exactly what the doctor ordered. Players need motivation and inspiration. Sometimes they need a kick in the butt.

Telling your team that they can "fail forward fast" sounds like the perfect epithat for Cam's first season.

Too bad he didn't draw some passion from his Bobby Knight experience and light a fire under his players, a la Tuna.

Doubt that Belichek goes easy on his players either. In fact, he thinks the sky is falling after every game.

Yes, I get that same feeling about Cameron that he may be asked to stay in a diminished capacity.
Parcells would certainly want to have his hired GM make the decision on who the coach should be. To have a coach in place and then hire a GM is against the conventional NFL wisdom.
Cameron's natural state of being is "diminished capacity".

You don't know a damn thing about Randy Moss. Where the hell do you get your information? Pull it out of your a.s.s.? Oh, sorry, that's where your head is.

Tuna sure is reason for somegreat optomism. He'll get the job done better than anyone since Shula did. As for Cameron, he seems like a most likeable kind of guy. However, that's not what puts "W's" on the board. He'll hopefully find some kind of decent job but he's over his head here. Let's go. Tuna !!!!!!! Good luck and best wishes for your greatest success to date.

I note your scarcasm, but you really do not understand the reality of the irony here. Where has this guy gone, where he did not inherit a loser, and turn them into a winner?

New York Giants - Two-time NFL Champ
New Youk Jets - Division champ
New England Patriots - AFC champ
Dallas Cowboys - Division Champ

In every situation Parcells inserted himself in not only the coaching of the team but in the personnel decisions of each team, getting players who fit his template for success. He has always wanted operational control, now he has it.

There is no "promised land" in the NFL. You get to be a champion by working your butt off, and by getting players who reflect the attitude of your organization from the top down.

If you are not willing to work as hard as The Tuna, from GM to head coach, to assistant coach, to player, then you will not work for the Miami Dolphins. Bill Parcells sets the operational tempo for the Miami Dolphins now, and that tempo just got faster.

This is the NFL, not a exercise in making friends. The Man could not care less if you like him. You are paid a lot of money to perform, and only winning brings happiness in the League.

As a Miami Dolphin fan, I plan on being happy in the not too distant future.

There are a lot of people who's days are numbered, quarterback is the LEAST of the problems in Miami, and that is a big statement.

So this guy doesnt Smile alot, nor does he pat his players on the back alot. Does anyone pay attention to what Tom Brady says about Belechek when asked? Or any Patriots player? He is always pushing them to do better isnt he? From what Tom Brady says, NOTHING they can do is ever good enough. 16-0 must realy suck! I wonder where Belechek learned those tequniques? Hmmmm? So that kind of NO SMILING pising for MORE out of good players doesnt work int he NFL???? Tell that to TOM BRADY and the PATRIOTS!
Granted, the fins have to find the players to push, but to say it doesnt work int he nfl????? COMON. Does BILL BELECHEC smile alot??????????
I dont think you have to PAMPER them to get respect, just treat them like MEN. MEN dont have to be Babied like children. Parcells knows this, and he is going to get REAL players who dont have to wear PAMPERS to play!

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Gemini

The lively Leo Moon makes this great day for doing something sociable, Gemini. Now if it's festive as well, then so much the better. You'll enjoy mingling with friends, neighbors and loved ones, and will even get the chance to smooth over recent problems with a certain someone. It's a big effort to get on well with everyone, but it will be all the more appreciated.
