Bears should offer Brian Urlacher for Cardinals' Anquan Boldin

David, you're just another fickle fan in Chicago. Trading Urlacher would be like trading Walter Payton. He's the only true superstar that the Bears have, and you want to trade him for a winy ball hawking WR? I am not so sure that Briggs would be as effective in the middle as he is on the edge. Urlacher also calls all the plays for the defense, is Briggs smart enough to do that? Personally, I'd rather have Urlacher then Bolden. At least Urlacher is a team player. I'm not so sure that Bolden is.

In a heartbeat I'd make that trade. The exoteric (75% right now) think it's a bad idea....why? Too many trips to the beer cooler during the games. Urlacher is a horrible fit for Lovie's D. This past year he was actually running away from the point of attack and trying to catch the play on the backside, only he can't run like he used to. He's on the downhill of his career. Love ya Brian, thanks for a great career. Welcome aboard Anquan!

This is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read, Urlacher (and possibly draft picks) for Boldin? Get serious. If the Bears need a wide receiver so bad then get Percy Harvin in the draft and keep Urlacher as well, sounds like a better idea to me.

are you serious give kyle orton who. haha yea right. he can't even hit devin hester on a consistant basis and you think anquan would tollerate orton's inconsistancies. i agree with urlacher but no way we are a better team with orton. he just flat out sucks. no one will come here with kyle orton at the qb. even the unknown basenae will not make any good vet come here.

DieHard, you are interested in loving your favorite players and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but if you are a guy interested in the Bears winning games you've got to let your aging heros go. JMO. Oh yeah, all you and I know about Boldin is what the press wants us to know. Whining? Give me a guy who wants the ball anytime.

OMG, you are so crazy Dave. We should call you Crazy Dave from now on. This is ridiculous, I love how the media piles up on Urlacher, who is still a genetic freak. I am so tired of reading crap like this. All you are looking for is a reaction, and you got it. HOW STUPID this is. He is the heart and soul of the D, and you will see when he is gone! Can't you come up with anything else here my god. Why do I still read?

who's going to throw him the ball? unless boldin is plasticman I don't see how he'd catch anything tossed his way from the current qb situation.

The Bears history is about reflective personality. Superstars who reflect the personality of the city. Urlacher may have lost a step, but in another system he would've destroyed offenses.

You forget, he's been taking on blockers willingly(not necessarily successfully) ever since the T-2 came to town. Ask Lance Briggs whether Urlacher is worth his money.

Urlacher is the face of this franchise. For good reason. He does things most primadonnas wouldn't do for the betterment of the offense.

Trading a player who's done his job for years for a potential headcase that wouldn't even see the ball?

you're better than this Haugh.

There's no question that the Bears are in desperate need of a wide receiver, but this trade leaves what at middle linebacker? If Urlacher gets traded, he gets traded, but it's not like anyone can just come in and play that spot in the Cover-2. Plus, Nick Roach probably isn't half as effective next an average MLB. Not that it's not hurting Hester to play across from Davis/Booker/Lloyd, but still - Urlacher's trade value is probably at an all-time low, and the Bears just aren't at the place right now where one guy (Boldin) is going to turn them into a serious Super Bowl contender, making this a short-sighted trade.

Boldin in a Bears uniform probably doesn't happen in 2009. Even if he could be had for a 1st-round pick and a minor player, there's still huge holes at DB and OT, and not filling in at least one of them via free agency would be a major gamble. No matter how you look at it, bringing in Boldin would be expensive, and it's not guaranteed to bring the Bears any more success than they had last year.

This is just crazy!! We need to re sign Orton long term, for like 5-6 years. Boldin is just not worth that much david, you are delusional!! We would be better to sign Houshmenzadeh in free agency, and keep Urlacher as well. You are grasping at straws, things are not that bad.. The Bears will have about 30 mil in cap space when free agency starts, plus we have the draft. we should be able to set this team up pretty well. You doubting thomas's are just Paranoid.. We are not that far off from being in contention, fools!! But I guess thats the difference between a True fan and a Fair Weather fan..You either are a True Bear fan,or you are trippin on something!! Go Bears!!

David-
I'm with you on this. I even proposed it a while watching the superbowl.
Boldin can make any qb look good.

And the Bears don't have to be the graveyard for aging linebackers.
Urlacher clearly did not come to play last year, other than in spurts.

I agree, stupid idea to give up Urlacher,no reason for it!! We should go after Houshmenzadeh at W-receiver in free agency. We should have around 30 million in cap space.. We should also target asomugha, a shut down corner free agent from the raiders. Then we could move Tillman to free safety where he would excel. We could strengthen two spots with one signing! Then draft a bad asz D-End in the first round. Then O-line in the 2nd round. We should sign Orton, the man. To a big time extension, probably a 12 year deal..

If they don't get a hold on the O-line, Boldin will be worthless.

Move Urlacher to the strong side, grab T.J. H., then focus on bringing in some uglies on both sides of the ball, as well as another safety/CB, LB and backup RB.

And if you are going to trade 54, just go for a drat pick so you can get cap relief to pursue other players.

WR is about the most overrated, overpriced position in the league. If you have a bunch of No. 2s, you can win in the NFL.

And this guy is not Larry Fitzgerald.

I also said the same thing recently about trading Untouchable Urlacher, although I was wishing more for Fitzgerald than Boldin.

Brian was almost embarassing to watch this past season .... and I also agree with "jerseyboy" --- don't put Urlacher in the same category with Sweetness, ever.

Urlacher is overrated, arrogant and time to go. And I agree with the other blogger, DO NOT EVER PUT Brian U within a jock's sniff of Walter Payton, ever. I would take Singletary in his prime over Urlacher, even in today's NFL!

Payton had what, ONE pout or downtrodden moment, because Ditka was too overwhelmed with Perry to allow Walter a SB TD. Other than that, when did Payton ever give less than 100% to that team? Urlacher is a great player, WAS a great player but his attitude stinks, let him be close to his kid.

How about Urlacher for Kellen Winslow? Winslow would make a great WR/slot receiver ... Browns might even throw in Brayon Edwards

i've been saying this for months. urlacher goes back home to the southwest and we get an "in his prime" bonafide #1 in boldin. spend the 1st pick on maulaga or laurinitis and the second on the best available OL. NO BRAINER!

Fat chance of that happening. The Cardinals are struggling to sign Karlos Dansby. So they would give a large salary to Dansby and then trade for a larger salary in Urlacher?
