Defense missing big plays

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

No sacks. No interceptions. No fumble recoveries. The only turnovers the New York Jets have had in their 0-2 start have probably come from coach Eric Mangini, turning over in his sleep trying to figure out ...

as a bronx native (castle hill) i will be kind. who do you propose start a qb? man it is standard procedure to start a proven vet till you groom your young qb. i got news for you, cleo is a 3rd stringer and beck would lose his mind trying to start now. can we please accept the re building like men? its not gonna be pretty!

Its the Dolphins - they haven't been 'pretty' in years?

There are many things to dislike about Miami - two at the top of the list are the Dolphins and the Hurricanes, not necessarily in that order.

GO JETS!

Good post leee.

Maybe it is the disgruntled Culpepper fans hollering for Beck to start? I have no idea. It's not wise to throw a rookie to the wolves so soon. Our offensive line is still a might offensive, not opening any holes for our backs to squeeze through and not giving the QB much time to throw.

This offense is supposed to be pretty complicated and difficult to learn especially compared to the one at BYU.

Losing 2 straight games to start the season isn't the end of the world altho some fans would have U think that. Twasn't too long ago the jets started 0 - 4 and made the playoffs.

We were competitive in the Cowboy game up until the special teams blundered that punt fiasco(twice) Then things went to hell - almost looking like SOME players gave up.

I hope for the best in NJ

Trent Green is the answer! Shut down the run and make Trent pass. He throw's beautiful "floaters" and he rushes his throws cause he doesn't want another concussion,BURP!

I agree. Cleo Lemon has greater velocity than Green (which is like saying Brad Penny has greater velocity than Greg Maddux, DUH) and is at least as accurate. Green plays scared and doesn't have it anymore. Let's focus on the real problem, namely QB. The defense is old and can't play 19 consdecutive minutes in 91 degree heat. At least we know the defense will come around. Green is way over the hill and should be long gone.

Cleo has been and never will be anything more than a back-up QB. After two games, one of which Green played well in, we are ready to bench him. Geeez, come on guys, give him a chance. We lost in OT one game and lead the other one in the middle of the third Q. The real problem is the running game and two many short series on offense and the defense being on the field too long although if the defense is on the field too long it might be because they aren't making the stops or big plays needed to get them off the field.

Have faith, we come home Sunday with a W and get Oakland next week. I still think we can be 4-2 by the NE game.

Bottom line D needs to step it up and Green needs to do a better job with the ball!If we do that then we may be 4-2 by the NE game!If not we may be limping into that one0-4.Everything else is in place. Those 2 factors control this team.HELL YEAH GO FINS!!!!

Right now the Dolphins are an antidote for any opponent. We are the doormat of the AFC, and it's going to be awhile before we pick ourselves up off the floor.

My bigger concern is around the Dolphins. If I was a Jet fan & if Mangini was breaking down film of the last 2 games, I'd be thinking of running the ball down our defense's throats. My general evaluation of our defense is that the other team's offense is beating us to the first punch. Our offense with the exception of that opening 3rd quarter drive against the Cowboys has players who can't make or sustain blocks, blow assignments, fail to hit the hole on running plays, drop catchable passes, throw passes that's easy to pick & in geneal can't get on the same page. And the special teams can't even cover a punt or line up propertly. What I hated most in the Cowboy game is that the Cowboys handled the September heat better than the Dolphins.

Until I'm proven wrong this team has losing habits and likes to lose. I hope you prove me wrong.

The Jets have had the tougher schedule so far,two playoff teams,so to say we suck is ridiculous. One team steals our signals and we lose our starting quarterback in the second game.
Sunday we'll be playing an average team at best,so we'll see who sucks. I actually think we'll go on a winning streak.
Your defense has no confidence in the offense and is playing the same old up hill battle, but with less talent than last year.( no Kevin Carter,Bowens & zagonia. If your offense continues the trend of not bieng able to score. This game will be a blowout. The Jets are psssd and eager to prove something with all thier fans behind them.
They are not an 0-3 team the Dolphins are.
