I'm glad this writer seems optimistic about us, but I still think we should sign a FS from free agency. I'm still uncertain at guard too. I'm sure Mike Briesel will start at one spot and either Tony Bergstorm or Lucas Nix at the other.

If we are serious about switching to a 3-4 defense, then we need a proven nose guard.

I really like how Reggie McKenzie is keeping quiet & keeping us wondering. A lot of the NFL is not giving us much of a chance so I hope they're in for a rude awakening

If this draft class proves to be a bust and we have another double digit losing season, I'm sure he'll go on the hot seat next year at minimum. I don't think he realizes that it's been 10 long years since we had a winning season & RaiderNation wants to see wins. Mark Davis already mentioned at some point last year that he was not happy with the regression. What's really bad was that in 2010 & 2011 it looked like we had things going in the right direction and then in 2012 the new regime took us back where we were. I know I've said that it takes at least 5 years for a GM to prove himself, but if his rebuilding strategy hurts business (like ticket sales) then I'm sure Mark Davis will be making a serious evaluation of him.

It was really hard to get building blocks for the future since there was a lack of skill players. I'm sure that if this regime was running things in 2007, they would've taken Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson #1 overall instead of Jbust.

Perhaps, or imagine if Al being Al, decided to draft both of those physical monster, along with Jay Cutler? We may have had one of the best offenses in the nfl for years.

Johnson & Peterson both came out the same year so getting both of them would've called for a major blockbuster trade. Just having one of those guys really makes me wonder how much better our team would be.

At one point I felt that we were heading in the right direction as far as player personnel & salary cap, but after the draft, I feel like our rivals drafted wiser than us & we left the draft with some depth built, but also with some big voids. I just hope everything turns out for the better.

as far as player personnel and salary cap goes?, it went great! the part of getting rid of everyone was easy! putting a team together after that is the hard part. this whole team has to have the right players and they have to click together to mold a team, jusst, to get started. this year we still have unproven players and new ("oc-coaches"). nobody knows each other in this team! even the (D) that was almost getting to a clicking point?, was taken apart. the afc west picked up pieces for need at a position to finish their puzzle. we're, starting our puzzle!(still). and just think? next season, we still gotta get rid of so many of this year's starters just to add greater ones!(lol). BUT, we gotta get started somewhere! sometime, soon, hopefully.
we have to play this season, maybe something surprising will come out of it? GO new era RAIDERS!

i put my trust more on the coaches! uhm, i mean the (O-coordinator"s"- assistant AND asssistant h-coach") olson and sparano and the dr.evil scientist(D-coordinator-jason tarver)! but not the head coach! sorry. but it is up to these assistant coaches to coach these players to be tough playing dedicated players. cause if they feel they got good players in free agency and the draft, then, it's up to them to coach-em up! i still don't trust dennis allen. maybe he picked up more sense this season, we'll see.

Even with the personnel changes we've made, losing Carson Palmer, with competent offensive playcalling for 16 games, we can easily win 5 games. I know it's not good to aim so low, but we will be starting a real lot of young guys, with almost no veteran pro-bowl type leaders on the team.

you're being nice! truth truth reality? i see us winning two games! think you were aiming too low?(lol). we win vs jags and titans. and if we go 4-12? we may win one vs cheifs because of alex smith's first year. and we may win one vs san diego because of coaching changes and their (qb) has been struggling past few yrs. if i'm being nice? and hopeful and optimistic?, we may win vs eagles FOR A 5-11. i will give credit to our RAIDERS for mckenzie saying we will compete this season, but this team has to click together. we need one more year for that. and assistant coaches pretty much have to start over overall.(o), new scheme, new coaches, new players.(D) new players learning the system. wayyy too much of a "new team".
but? never the less, GO RAIDERS!

Honestly, i kinda expect this to be a bit of a "redshirt" season, where tons of new guys and young guys are trying to play and get better. It's like an audition for who wants to be a pillar of the franchise.

I just hope we get some good skill position guys in the next year or two.

no yeah, that's what i'm saying. these guys are all new and need to click together. i don't discredit that we may not have new talented players. even the older young veterans need to click with the new guys. they need to click with the coaches. you know, i remember some players years back used to say, i'm gonna take these guys out to lunch to get to know them. we are going to spend extra time early in practice to get to know them. when they now a trusted team mate on the field, they work good together. hopefully these players aren't shy and are open to working together as a team. specially the (qb) and (wr's). but yeah, at least one more year juuuust to get "started" as a "true team". the problem has been, wayyyyy to many changes. everybody is new to each other.

Well I might be optimistic but I see 7/9 ,8/8..I agree the team is new,but we do have veterans in each position except QB,WR..IMO walker/Sims addition added to houston makes up a nice front, having Burris, burnett,Roach,Moore as LB is much inproved..DB's are improved also..i agree we could use some saftey depth, but over all I think were back to middle of road defence..Offence is the kicker for me,IF Flynn can keep the turnovers to a minimum, with our desent chance of getting our running game back this offence will average 20pt a game.. Im just happy as hell I dont have to watch a penalty every play against us....glad we improved there, and think it will only get better....

what's up wiscRAIDER, if the RAIDERS make a 7-9 or an 8-8, i'll be back to my normal self. i like the optimism and the hopes and the wishes and everything positive that you or anyone brings to the RAIDERS. IF anything, im more hopeful than anything cause i've been scratching my head since mckenzie came in with his patience and we will be better talk. i've talked so much crap about mckenzie that finally i said to myself, shut up misterio, just shut the hell up!(lol). so now, i don't mean to sound so negative. i'm just really kind of looking at the picture with my perspective on the transitions that take or took or are taking place. we just don't look settled this year that's all. to me anyways. but i hope that it really turns out the way you say it. i respect the opinion.

Well Mosterio, losing 10 straight yrs of losing will test any fan,Hell, ive had to fend off these cheeseheads to long myself..but were on our way back, starting next yr..this defence is much improved atleast if nothing else right? Mckensie is doin a nice job bringing some people in,i think youll be pleasently suprised this yr..My biggest concern is once we get to be contenders again will mckensie spend money on higher end free agents!!! And I know he has the packer back round, but remember hes a RAIDER FIRST... Time will only tell, but its fun to look at now.

I'm starting to question my opinion about McKenzie & where his priorities lie. I seriously don't think he drafted the best available players like he said he did. I keep telling myself that we need the season to prove this draft, but I'm having too hard of a time convincing myself we will be better.

(lol), you remind me of me back in 06 when i started here on RAIDERS news topix. i was going by the name of coloRAIDER. i was living in colorado at the time and had to deal with a the rival denver broncos. boy, they hated me!(lol). and actually they were all pretty cool for the most part. but it didn't change anything of the way i still feel about the broncos.(which, is not good). so i see what you're saying. see, back then we had a team! we won ugly, but, we won. if our team was down, you just never knew when we were going to win that game. so, there was that thrill of an excitement that we don't have today. these RAIDERS today are trying to play all skilland business. there is no more pride. there is no more heart in winning games and being a RAIDER. it's all business. RAIDER fans like you all and me here and everywhere are as loyal as can be. it's difficult to defend your team when they are down but we have pride. and i don't want to sound like i am bashing them. but i just don't see it happening this season. "at all"! maybe next season when the team is more put together. just being realistic on my part. the only hope that i have, is if these (o) and (d) coaches work some kind of a miracle to win an 8-8 season. so, i put my trust more on the coaches to show me some signs that they are coaching well cause we may have talented players, but to me, it's up to the coaches! mckenzie? don't even ask me of the way i feel about mckenzie (lol).
but, maybe he convince me this season. AHAHAHAHAHA!(LOL)! oh,=|
just saying =)
