Not a real program?
Then why did Notre Dame and Ohio State both talk to Mike
Bellotti when they were looking for a new head coach? Mike
listened to both and elected to stay at Oregon.
I'd suggest you take a serious look at the athletic
facilities at Oregon, as they are regarded as the best
in the PAC-10. Approximately one NCAA school per week
visits the UO to tour the facilities as they consider
improvements or expansion to their own facilities.
Incidentally, if a player is seriously injured in a game
at Autzen Stadium he can get an MRI within 2 minutes of
leaving the field. They have 2 available and replace
them with new ones every 12-18 months, selling the used
units to other schools.
Continuing later ....
Got a kick out of the first part. OK you might have good facilities for the pac-ten. I am talking about tradition and a long tradition of winning and fan support. What you have had is one Rich donor to give you a nice facility. I don't hate Oregon by the way, the football team, would hate to live there though.

<quoted text>It's all about who travels well and who will draw the most $$$$$$$...the media gets what the media marketers tell them, so someone can make $$$$$....that goes for recruiting as well....yes, in my opinion, everything that is entertainment sucks, everything. Back in the day as far as college goes, guys would get their degrees and maybe go pro. Now, for basketball, 1 year...gone, Football, 2 years....gone...coaches gone after they told parents and the kids that they would be there for their sons...so, even though you are dogging out my Bucks, look at the bigger picture.....no one cares about what you and I think, they do however care about you and me when it comes to us spending our $$$$$$
Its even worse in basketball than football, but its crazy that
a school would chase a coddled "blue chip" recruit ... spending
a small fortune getting him to commit ... knowing that the kid
has absolutely no interest in staying more than necessary
before the NFL (or NBA) intimates he would be drafted.

I also don't understand why it is schools take pride in being
used as a minor league franchise for the NFL. If that is the
purpose of an athletic program, lets just be honest about
it and stop this nonsense about "student athletes." Lets just
pay 'em and be up front about it.

Any NFL or NBA team that drafts a player before college graduation
should have to reimburse the university double the cost of that
kids college expenses for the years he attended the school.

I don't think the Ducks will put up 40, however I do think they will get 35 or so.
Please do some research and realize why you have a top ten defense. You have played terrible offenses (you didn't even play nw or msu btw who are two of your better offenses) and haven't had to face aggressive teams who want to score, not punt. The pac ten has had to play against some very dynamic offenses while still having 6 defenses in the top 50 of the fbs (4 in the top 27). The big ten has 6 as well. Do you know how many offenses you have in the top 50? Three. The pac ten has 5 offenses in the top 50. Do you know how many 1000 yard rushers the big ten has? 2, the pac ten has 5 with 3 in the top 7 in the country.
I understand your proud of your defenses playing basically nobodies but please think of something else to say. Do you know how many defenses led the pac ten in rush D only to be replaced immediately after playing Oregon? 4. Don't forget, you didn't play msu or nw. I hope your defense isn't your security blanket, if so it will be wet when the game is over from your tears.
The REAL key to this game is your offense vs. my defense. Of course, TP will have to come prepared to make some throws because Oregon will force that. Expect the box to be stacked. Oregon is ranked 37 in defense and your offense is ranked 71.
Enough of the "we have a Defense you have never seen before". Seriously, you need more than that because you have never seen an offense quite like this. Don't even say Texas because it isn't the same. All I know is you are not so good when you play teams who run a version of the spread. Whether you played Texas close or not, you lost. You lost to purdue, you lost to Illinois not to long ago, do I need to mention UF, LSU?. Spread=tOSU's cryptonite!!!!
Hey Duck in Portland, How'd your theory of the Buckeyes D crumbling under the awe-inspiring Oregon offense work out for you? I hope you gained a few things out of this... first, RESPECT the other team, that means don't go running your duck-bill off on another school's home newspaper website forum... second, the Big Ten really does have some pretty good defenses out there, and now your 'epic' offense has been witnessed to it... third, ACCEPT defeat, your team lost, and your convictions proved to be wrong, if you're going to go on an opponent's site and talk smack, have the gumption to go back and apologize for some of the harsh things you said and show class and congratulate those fans on a great game... finally, LEARN from your mistakes... next time, stick to the Oregon papers.
