The plan was simple, and made plenty of sense. UCLA's best cover man, junior Alterraun Verner, was matching up with BYU's top receiver, junior Austin Collie.

Every once in a while events far apart tell us much about the state of things in one place. BYU and USC are in once class while Ohio State and UCLA are in another. It's difficult to argue that USC and BYU do not have a great football teams. Most of us expected USC to defeat an over rated OSU team, but the way BYU manhandled UCLA in every facite of the game...well it simply looked like BYU got tired of the criticism and put on a performance equal to their many talented capabilities. They dominated defensively every bit as much as offensively. People that thought Tennessee wasn't that good...take a note. The Vols are thaat good. This was just evidence of how good BYU really is this year. We all knew USC was top 5, but you wuld be hard pressed to find many other top ten teams that would want to face that BYU team at a neutral site or in Provo.

I would agree with Louis -- The performance BYU put up in the 59-0 beating of UCLA was as close to perfection as you get. That BYU team looked like a top 5 team -- It is interesting when people start to talk of conferences and "BCS" mentality when analyzing BYU -- With BYU and other non-BCS teams, it is always a hypocritical, "change your logic as it goes" response -- The criticism of BYU is that their conference stinks, they play nobody, and that even their wins against BCS teams are unimpressive -- Lets take Georgia for example -- The Bulldogs are 3-0 against Ga. Southern, Central Michigan, and So. Carolina -- That is not an impressive resume at all -- Yet people are trying to take credit away from BYU for being 3-0 against N. Iowa, UW, and UCLA -- Show me a team who has scheduled a tougher non-conference line up than that -- Another interesting fact is that BYU's first game should have been against Nevada but the Wolfpack SHAMELESSLY pulled out of the contracted game only months before this season..... Louis is on the mark -- Who in their outright minds would want to come to Provo and take on BYU?? We often talk of "indicator" games to measure how good teams are -- That UCLA game shows BYU is a top 10 team
