How about Phillip Merling? Got to be an oversight.

Solid list. I would have listed Ronnie Brown up to number 2. It's tough to list team players in some kind of order.

Here are some other players who may have played more of a part in the Dolphins success than any of the players mentioned in the list.

1. Brett Favre
2. Bernard Pollard
3. Phillip Daniels
4. Terrell Owens

The first two I understand.

Phillip Daniels-well we havent used what we got for JT yet and I dont think we were a better team without JT. Did we miss JT-no. Was it a bad trade-no. Did the trade help us go 11-5? No.

As far as TO goes, I have no idea how he helped the Dolphins last year. Unless you blame him for making Parcells leave?

It's a 3 way tie

Pennington - Brown - Williams

The defenses didn't know where the ball was going.

Nice job Omar! One of my few disagreements would be Ginn. Yes he drops too many balls and had a disappointing year returning kicks but when a speedster is featured prominently enough for 61 receptions his effect on pass defenses is a big reason why Pennington hits #1 on your list. Ginn may seem undeserving of high honors but honestly I think his mere presence makes him more valuable than many of us would like to admit.

As far as, T.O., you got it on the head.

Phillip Daniels was big because it brought a very positive end to a potentially volitile situation. JT leaving was a major weight off the franchise, and freed up playing time for Merling & Langford. Plus every Redskin loss made that 2d round pick better and better. Good times all around.

Were we a better team without JT? I don't know. But I do know teams of the JT era would always go into New York or New England with the season on the line and blow it. This team didn't. This team thrived. Coincidence?

This is very well done. I realize it is to credit the players for their contributions. It got me to thinking that if Parcells wasn't hired, alot of these players would either not be here, or wouldn't have performed as they did. Credit Parcells for moving Porter and Roth to their current positions. Pouncing on Pennington was alot of luck and some genius. Fergusson for a 6th rd. pick. Ayodele and Fasano for a 4th.rd. pick. Credit the quarterbacks coach Lee for Ronnie Browns success. If not for the wildcat, he wouldn't be in the pro bowl this year. Don't mis understand the comment. I love Ronnie Brown. Was a fact relative to the running game out of base offense. O-line needs alot of improvement.
On another point, I just heard on ESPN, Mortensen said that before the Dolphins were sold, Huizenga changed the clause about Parcells' 30 day opt out to read Parcells can opt out at ANY time during his contract. Awesome!! Credit Parcells with a stroke of brilliance on that one also.
Good stuff on the players rankings overall though.

Ding Ding Ding: The Dolphins are on the clock at pick 57 in the 2nd round (their 3rd selection). On the Board are two great WR selections, one's a vertical deep threat, one's across the middle possession receiver. The correct answer is????

Who had the biggest impact? You can't call it; everyone was a keystone.

The biggest impact was Parcells' disciplinarian approach to the game (thank Sporano and Ireland as well).

Player MVP? The WHOLE squad. No Jake Long, no QB protection. No Mr. Pennington, no passing effectiveness. No R&R, no running threat. No Joey Porter, no blitzing threat... etc, etc.

GREAT TEAM EFFORT. GO PHINS IN '09!!!

No Doubt Penny was the Phins MVP. But, Crowder deserves more love than he gets.

RB Darren Sproles (S.D. Chargers) or Percy Harvin (Junior UF Gators)? Would you select Harvin or trade for Sproles? These could be two very real options for the Dolphins. Proven vs Potential, of course proven always cost more!

There you go...It aint about me first players or with this group. Everyone stepped up in his own right when the situation called for it. This was the first time in years we saw everyone clicking on the same page. Yes we do have to give a ton of credit to Pennington, That man was solid as a rock from the lowly days of 0-2 right through 2-4 and 11-5 but the rest of the team did what it took to win when asked. The first N*E* game was a team effort, most say it was the wildcat but our D gave them a whoopin too. I would have to say our beakout game was the home Buffalo game. We took the early 7-0 lead and went stagnant the rest of the first half, going down like 16-7 at half. my buddies are like, this sucks lets go to tootsies, I said you guys are lame, im going to sit with pops the rest of the game. BAMMM, sure enough 2nd half and our team didnt miss a beat. the D tightened up, the offense started scoring and we won impressively. After that we rang off 4 and then 5 straight with everyone doing their part as needed. Even in the 2nd N*E* game they played balls to the wall but just couldnt keep their composure at the end. I believe they learned a lesson from that. I can go on and on about last season but I will stop here for now. GREAT TEAM... GO PHINS!!!

Will Allen? The guy everyone started throwing at in the last 7 games because they were more afraid of Goodman? The guy who kept falling down all the time and proved he doesn't know how to tackle? He'll have his biggest impact on this team when the draft pick we trade him for starts next season.
