Speaking of the law, doesn't NYC have mayoral term limits? Bloomy has been taking a few pages from PUTIN. Enough! They could interview Pierce on Monday. Interview the idiots at the club and the hospital. When politicians get mixed up with the law only bad things can happen to private citizens. Hey Mister Mayor, you thought winning re-election would be a slam-dunk. Wrong sport chump. We are going to sack, you strip the ball and run the other way for a touchdown. You've got Burress, so leave everyone else alone. Especially Bradshaw! So he's dancing on the floor with a chick when this happens. How the hell does this make him a witness? Putting the pressure on a kid who's been convicted of borrowing a video game and having a beer - let's just say Mr Mayor that maybe we'll start looking at your books, your company your administration anyone involved with you. Would you like a witch hunt going after you? Think twice about mixing politics with the law because these things have a way of coming back to haunt you.

But that has not stopped some from wondering whether the city’s plan to allow Verizon to compete with Time Warner and Cablevision for cable customers is actually much-delayed payback to Cablevision for helping wreck Bloomberg’s Olympic dreams five years ago.

One observer with clients involved called the move to break the Time Warner-Cablevision duopoly “Bloomberg's revenge.”

...Opaque and often-ignored, the Conflicts of Interest Board is the steward of honest city government -- the public principles police. Charged with overseeing the intersections of the private and public lives of the city's 300,000 municipal employees, the quasi-judicial body seeks to ensure employees act in the interest of the people -- not themselves.

But in that honest and worthwhile pursuit, the board's intent has been questioned. Its five members are all appointed by the mayor, rubber-stamped by the City Council, and with that some City Hall observers wonder whether the board is as independent as it should be -- especially during an administration with as much private interest as Mayor Michael Bloomberg's....

Merrill's Move Puts Mayor On the Spot
Political Questions Arise Over a Business Matter
By JULIE SATOW, Staff Reporter of the Sun | July 8, 2008

Mayor Bloomberg, who has had a long string of successes in dodging conflicts of interest with his multibillion-dollar business holdings, is suddenly being confronted with a case that may upend his luck.

Merrill Lynch, the company that wants to unload its 20% stake in Bloomberg LP for as much as $6 billion, also figures in the development debate at ground zero, where the mayor is a major player. If Merrill gets an offer for its interest in the mayor's company, it must offer him a right of first refusal.

"..If Mr. Bloomberg exercises that right, he would be in the position of negotiating the price and terms of a multibillion-dollar business deal with Merrill Lynch, a major New York City employer whose real estate moves could affect the future of a key Lower Manhattan development project, the rebuilding of ground zero..."
