The 3 keys for the Packers are 1) get to the airport on time 2) get to the stadium on time, and 3) put on your uniform. Game over!

Coyotes beat Oilers 4-2

Shane Doan and Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored in the third period, and the Phoenix Coyotes ended a three-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.

Phoenix played the night before and Edmonton had five days off, but it was the Coyotes who had the extra jump, outshooting the Edmonton Oilers 42-20.

Lauri Korpikoski scored in the first period, Radim Vrbata in the second, then Doan and Ekman-Larsson put it away with goals 3 minutes apart in the third. Ray Whitney had three assists in Phoenix Coyotes' eighth win in its last nine games against Edmonton.

Taylor Hall scored twice for Edmonton after missing the previous seven games with a left shoulder injury. The Oilers have lost seven of nine.

Doan scored on a deke and a wrister after Mikkel Boedker did a nice job of keeping the puck in the zone, then Ekman-Larsson put it away on a shot that somehow eked past Dubnyk from near the side of the goal.

Ndamukong Suh returns against Oakland Raiders

Suh, last year's Defensive Rookie of the Year, is back from a two-game suspension for stomping on Green Bay lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith on national television on Thanksgiving Day.

Carlisle was asked if he might try to antagonize a guy with a temper to knock him off his game.

"I don't think so," he said, laughing. "I don't think so."

What's no laughing matter is the importance of Sunday's game at the Coliseum for both Okaland Raiders(7-6) and Detroit (8-5), and both teams' playoff chances could hinge on how successfully the Raiders deal with the 6-foot-4, 307-pound Suh.

Suh had 10 sacks last year in making the Pro Bowl, but has only three this season as he has faced more double teams. Carlisle will surely get a hand from center Samson Satele, as the Raiders try to get their running game going after three subpar weeks.

Suh was not the only person to earn redemption Sunday.

Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson had struggled statistically since the bye week (Nov. 6), but roared back with nine receptions for 214 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Oakland played man-to-man coverage on Johnson, and he made the Raiders pay.

Patriots DE Andre Carter May Need Surgery

Defensive end Andre Carter suffered an injury to his left leg late in the first quarter of Sunday's 41-23 win against Denver and did not return. and his season is likely over.

Carter's agent, Carl Poston, said that X-rays on his knee were negative and the early diagnosis "looks like Andre has a quad-related injury that will require surgery."

He was defending the run when he fell to the ground, clutching the left knee. He got attention from trainers on the field before being loaded onto a cart and wheeled off the field. Carter will have to undergo season-ending surgery for a quad-related injury.

Carter has been the best player on the New England Patriots defense the whole season. He's been stellar in both run defense and while rushing the passer, and has provided veteran experience in the locker room. He's been labeled a true professional and has been one of the typical pick-ups that makes the New England Patriots extremely successful.

Carter will have around four weeks to recover from a surgery, if he is to return for the playoffs. However, I am not sure if that is strong enough support to keep Carter on the active roster. Should Carter be placed on the injured reserve, expect the Patriots to bring up rookie Markell Carter from the practice squad. Also look for an expanded role for Mark Anderson and Eric Moore- or look for the Patriots to shift their defense back to the 3-4 defense as Carter was one of the only reasons for staying in the 4-3 set.
