You "patriots" make me laugh. This guy died for a higher cause?? I thought his own men shot him and the government lied about it.

The way I remember it, he wan't volunteering out of a political belief ot to do anything noble for his country. I thought he signed up because his brother was going and he wanted to be with him.

NOT! He gave his life just like others before him and after him so you can say STUPID comments like this. He is a real hero along with the millions of others that have served for a higher cause.
I'm not sure that killing all who MIGHT become a terrorist is exactly a HIGHER cause.

Obviously you have some serious issues my friend. You must come from a long line of cowards in your family, who have done nothing but whine and complain their whole lives for generations. What "higher" cause?
Oh I don't know, how about serving and defending your country. And since the only one between us two that have served and is still serving is me, then that means your perspective on the issue is not only ignorant, it;s totally invalid.
When you actually do something in your life besides pad your own wallet, and look out for yourself, maybe then you'll understand what "higher" means.
Until then just enjoy the freedoms that ALL US selfless soldiers and fellow military have provided you.
You're perfectly free to keep on complaining and backstabbing your country. You're welcome.

Oh by the way, this law breaking, horrible country of ours has some pretty good laws about letting you live in other countries. As a matter of fact, you're free to leave anytime you want to. Imagine that huh? Freedom? I wonder, what wars did you lose any family members to in our history? Maybe that's your problem, you were never taught to appreciate what others died to give you, because you're whole family tree is one big, fat, mooching, selfish, and ignorant stain in our countries past.

So my question to you is? Why are you still here? What's the point? I know if I lived in a place that I felt was so corrupt, and horrible, I would leave. Isn't that what our ancestors did? They left other countries to be in this one. Maybe you missed that memo. This isn't Iran, you're free to leave anytime you want. You obviously know of a better country to go live in, so why don't you go live there?

You know why you won't? Because you don't even believe your own garbage you spew out of your pie hole. That makes you the bigger loser in the whole country. You like to call out Bush and Cheney. Well Bush and Cheney were in a position where they had to make 'real' decisions, as difficult and unpopular as they may have been, and as bad as it may have made them look. At least they 'believed' in their decisions. When have you EVER had to make a decision that effected more then you and maybe your family?

You're a tool. If you really believed in what your talking about you'd just up and leave. But you won't. Because, like your ancestors before you. You're just a coward, that hides behind the freedom myself and generations of my family and others like mine have given you.

Send me a post card, when you get to that glorious country you've picked out.

You have no idea of the sacrifices I or my family have my made so shut your mouth on that subject or I'll shut it for you. It would appear you are the coward here...when I see a problem, I stick around to solve it, not run away as you suggest.
The rich and powerful have been sending young men off to die for "freedom" for centuries in this nation. Wake-up. Afghanistan and it's people couldn't of attacked tour bus, let alone the US. And as far as the Taliban, why don't do allitle research and find out waht nation gave them hundreds of thousands of dollars in 'aid' in 2000...that's right tough guy, we did.
If you are a military person then you know discretion is the better part of valor. Your world view has obviously been shaped by your 7th grade text book and since you lack the knowledge to understand the world around in an analytical way, you use personal attacks and cliches.
I come on this website to amuse myself w/ the absolute ignorance and anger of the typical Newsday reader...and I'm never dissapointed.
When will people like you understand that DISSENT and CRITICISM IS PATRIOTIC. If you don't like to question our gov't actions and motives, than you are the one that belongs in a third world, authoritarian nation, they like your kind there...dumb and unquestioning

I'm sorry, what makes you think you have more knowledge on how to keep America safer then our President does, or I do for that matter. Not only have I been actively serving for the past 6 years, but I aslo hold a BS in Counter Terrorism Studies, so don't try the whole "we aided teh taliban thing" I knwo all about it and it is two completely different situations. Obviously you are having trouble comprehending the differences.

I'm sorry, what unit did you deploy with to Afghanistan or Iraq. What's that? The 1st Backstabbers Regiment, interesting? I've never heard of that unit.
Exactly what is your degree in again? And what scholarly place did you get your info from? No, I'm sorry, the New York Times and Move On.Org do not qualify as "real" and truthful and informative sources. Try again.
The problem isn't questioning your governments actions or decisions, it's understanding that there are people in positions higher then you, that are privy to and have access to information that you don't. Information that they have to make decisions on WITHOUT consulting with you.
Now when you read your New York Times and other ridiculous propaganda media stories, without knowing or experiencing FIRST HAND what is really going on, and you give ignorant statements as if you do know, then that makes you an idiot, and a traitor. Spin it any way you like. You sit there and criticize soldiers like Tillman who felt deep inside that he wanted to serve his country and tunrned down millions in his face to do it. You call it moronic, I call it honorable, selfless, and noble. When have you ever felt in your miserable life a feeling to do something for someone else or your country, or to make a sacrifice like that. That's right I said miserable, because only miserable, whiney, complainers, would criticize someone for putting something else before his own selfish feelings.
You sit there in your living room criticizing our government, and it's wars when you have no idea what's happening in real life. Have you been to Iraq, or Afganistan? I have. Have you met and talked with the citizens of these countries and worked hand in hand with them to better their countries and their lives? I have. Have you heard first hand stories of how Hussein or the Taliban killed memebers of their families for no reason? I have.
HAVE YOU EVER IN YOUR MISERABLE LIFE EVER FELT COMPASSION FOR ANYONE BUT YOURSELF?
Or do you just sit there, like the coward you are, and criticize us and our government without ever lending a helping hand in the process.
You know what, yeah it's patriotic to disagree, with your country and it's governments actions, but ONLY if you are actively trying to make a difference. Are you making a difference? Are you serving? Are you at least making frequent trips to capitol hill and petitioning for what you believe in? NO!
THEN YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DISAGREE, DISSENT OR ANY OF THE OTHER COWARDLY THINGS YOU CHOOSE TO DO.
Until you get off your lazy a_s_s and either, help your fellow Americans in the fight, or help by going to capitol hill and actually making an attempt to make a difference, then just shut up already.
Keep reading your propaganda news, and THINKING you know what the he_ll is going on. You have no clue!

so "my country love or leave it?!!!" Germans probably said the same thing in 1939 and then after the war denied knowledge all denied knowlwdge of the death camps. have faith mindless unquestioning obediance is needed.
Let me guess, you think movies like 'Huckleberry Fin' and 'Gone With the Wind' and 'Birth of a Nation'(where the KKK "saved" the South from integration forced by Civil War reconstrucion) are documentries.

NO conspiracy here, but some of us have learned and accept that it is okay to question what our government does in our name. Hopefully that is reflected in how you vote and you just don't follow the party lines that you are told to or how your family/friends tell you to think. good luck!!

This is not a heroic tale, it's a sick tragedy.
And please don't start with the tired "protecting our freedoms" bit, Bush/Cheney did more to threaten our freedoms than the average Iraqi/Afghani ever will.
I swear this country gets more like Nazi Germany everyday...

There's a difference between questioning and outright hoping and wanting for our president to fail.
The only one following party lines here is you. Unlike you, even though I may have not voted for a certain person, once they are elected President, they have my full support. Do i question some of their decisions, sure. But do I want them to fail, or think for some reason they don't have our countries interest at heart, no I don't. That's the other difference between us two. I am smart enough to realize that the president, no matter who he may be, is privy to information that no one else is, and he needs to make difficult decisons based on that information, regardless of how unpopular it may be. So unless you are privy to the same information, I don't see how you blindly question, someone who was elected by your own countrymen to make those difficult decisions. Do I agree with everything any president does, of course not, I don't think any honest, unbiased person would or should. But does that mean I believe that they're intentions aren't good based on the information they have? No.
See the problem in this country isn't the President, it's the agenda based, biased, Democratic and Republican parties and their mindless drones like you, who can't think for themselves, and instead rely on false information, and nasty rhetoric to tear each others parties down, and in effect tear our country apart.
My guess is you're a Democrat, and that means to you Bush was the devil, and Obama is the savior. I'm curious as to how much questioning you will place toward Obama.
If you call yourself a true American, then you'd register as an Independent. Because Independents are the only unbiased and objective Americans who don't follow party lines, but vote for the candidate they feel will do the best job overall, not pass the best abortion law. Also, after the election Independents usually have no problem supporting whoever actually did win. Like I said, I voted for McCain, but Obama is the President now and so as such, deserves my full support.
So if you've got a problem with our country or President, maybe you should look in the mirror first and ask yourself what good 'not supporting' our President is? Our country has its own checks and balances built into it. It doesn't need your criticism and hatred toward your own President compounding the problem.
Have some faith in the fact that regardless of what the media may tell you. They nor you are privy to the information that our President is privy to. Think about that.
