Brady has had a LOT of help on the defensive side of the ball during his career at NE, something Manning has just recently started to get.Brady has been getting it done for years with no name very average receivers. I have a lot of respect for what Manning has done but now he has to step up and show he can be great without great receivers. You know, like Brady has done for years.
As far TB's average receivers go, 1) Troy Brown, Deion Branch, and Ben Watson are not "average" receivers, and 2) talk to Pioli and the Pats management about that. Obviously, they thought TB's receivers were good enough or they wouldn't have waited until 2007 to get his some more.
Starting training camp with, and practicing/playing the entire season with those guys developed enough timing and familiarity to get him to the SB. And, don't forget, TB had some pretty bad games with his "second rate" receivers, as well. He didn't go undefeated and didn't even make the playoffs the year after his first SB. Everybody thought he was one-n-done.
Manning is doing the best that can be expected, considering what's going on around him. Cut him some slack and give him time to get on the same page with the replacements. If the guys would just stop dropping passes and running the wrong routes things would be much different. The Colt's backups will come around.
