Sanders put on hold

The preseason prognosis for injured Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders is the same as it was last year: Don't count on seeing him play until the third exhibition game. Full Story

Bethea looked great. He's a hitter. Marlin Jackson looked good too.

Whether or not he's healthy Sanders should be kept on the bench for the first eight games of the regular season. He's both talented and fragile, so I want to save him for the playoffs.

Polian and Dungy know what they are doing, so I hope this stops the nay-sayers. The secondary will do great this year. Bethea was a steal, and the Jackson/Hayden combo are going to kick but. Sanders has prooven himself, so nothing else needs to be said. Trust Bill P and Tony D.

The cover-2 works. It just takes the right players. This is only preseason. The Colts found someone to replace Simon and they will find someone to replace Booger. Plus the Colts have speed, which is what is required in C2. They will get it together. Plus, they don't need to play like the '85 Bears.

I love BOB but don't be surprised he is NOT resigned next year. Injuries seem to get him every year.

Repeat after me: I am not worried. It will all work out. Bob will play; the defense will be OK. It is not as dark in the woods as it seems.

Bob is a great player but why is it he always seems to be injured? Is it his size combined with his reckless abandon on the field? I didn't follow him in college so does anyone know if he had this injury problem then?
I would agreee that if he can only see limited playing time save him for the important regular season games and the playoffs. I would also agree that this continued problem with injuries in the last year of his contract makes him less likely to be resigned.

There are many athletes that do not like to practice and I believe he is one of them! The injury is just an excuse not to practice.
The position of Safety requires you to be a hard hitter and not the biggest guy on the field. He is a good player but not a great player.
If he were on the offensive side of the ball, Manning would have already talked to him!

The Colts will have to have Bob Sanders healthy and playing at top form, and even then, the loss of Cato June will be felt. The young defensive players looked really young in the game on Thursday...some are still wondering what happened having been repeatedly juked out of both their shoes and their socks by Marion Barber. There was little pass rush and not much coverage either. On the offensive side, there is certainly no back-up back for Addai! Dorsey spent his night being tackled by his own shoestrings in amassing 15 yards in six attempts. Not impressive at all!

There is so much parity in the NFL and there are no easy games (need any proof...J'ville, Titan's, etc. down the stretch last year.) The Colts have experience, but still, it appears that a lot will "have to come together" to approach anything close to a repeat.

Save him until the regular season. I love the fact that we give teams a different look each week with our ever changing roster. A win in the preseason is not going to give us homefield advantage! Save his shoulders for what matters.

Shut up moron...He got hurt last year in preseason practice that kept him out most of the year...This is all precaution...We are a different Defense with him in there...Actually I doubt we would be SB Champs if he didnt come back 100% in the playoffs

There is something about the whole team's attitude that changes when Bob Sanders plays. It's like he lights that competitive fire in all of them! Save him and keep him healthy for later. It's OK if we don't have a perfect season ... our players learned more from adversity than the near-perfect season we had the year before. Go Bob! Go Colts!

Apparently you've never had a shoulder surgery. It's not exactly something you jump up from the following day. Give the man a break, keep him healthy for the actual season.

I also have the feeling that the Colts won't work too terribly hard on resigning Sanders when his present contract is up.

But, I bet what does happen is that he'll be 100% healthy for the next several seasons and be voted to several pro-bowls...all with another team.

Glad I'm not making personnel decisions.

Let us not for the the F.A. signing period the first half of the season. It's entirely possible that they'll sign a contributor or two as usual!

The Colts donot have to put Bob Sanders in the game during preseason because they know what he can do. The Colts have a lot of DB they need to take a look at. The young DB'S didn't look that good in the Cowboy's game and they need to improve their stock to make the team. Tim Jenning got fake out of his shoes by Marion Barber and I am looking for him to have a good game next time.
