What I’ve always found funny is that the media was the one that built Vick into this Super Jesus Quarterback (SJQ) coming out of college, then when he never lived up to their lofty expectations, they were the first to say he was one of the most overrated signal callers ever to lace up the cleats.

Mike Vick was regarded by many - including NFL fans - as being one of the NFL's most exciting players due to his speed, agility, and arm strength.

Vick is noted for his unique, explosive playing style. Some commentators considered him the most exciting player in the game of football. Gifted with agility, speed, and a strong arm, he can engineer big plays with both his arm and his legs. Notable is the fact that while he throws left-handed, he is otherwise right-handed.

Vick's mobility has often caused major problems for opposing defenses, which have to defend against him differently than they would against a conventional-style quarterback. Whereas most quarterbacks are not a major threat to run the ball for a lot of yards, Vick is capable of breaking huge runs from anywhere on the field or evading defenders to give his receivers time to get open.

For all these reasons and more - he'll be back.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE VICK!

Michael Vick is beyond redemption. Someone who would even use family pets as targets for vicious dog fighting has no concience or feelings for others. He is a monster and sadist who is taking out his hatred on creatures who cannot fight back. If he could do what he's done to dogs to people, he would. He is a criminal and should not be allowed to play for the NFL

Bottom line, he was given a great blessing by having the opportunity to be in the NFL. It is a disgrace to the NFL, as well as to the dream that so many others would have cherished. He threw his dream away and it is only right that he has to live with that fact for the rest of his life.

he was never underrated, actually. Everyone knew he was too inconsistent and turnover prone to be an elite qb in the nfl. Therefore, most of the time he was just plain overrated. If he comes back he will be an embarrassment to any team he plays for. Vick should do himself a favor and just join the canadian league. He might actually be able to help a team out as a backup RB. Nah, nevermind, he fumbles too much.

How was he underrated, he had a passing and winning percentage of just under 54%. an anemic Q-Back numerical rating and only made the playoffs two times in six years. The Q-Back of a team is considered the leader and leaders are judged on wins and losses and a winning percentage of just under 54% means 8-8 one year and 9-7 the next. Mikey was an exceptional athlete, however, he was never a winning Q-Back and did not have professional level skills to play that position. Mikey Vick was just a more athletic Vince Young and he is being replaced with Kerry Collins who is the more traditional type of Q-Back, AKA leader.

C'mon ... if he weren't someone who obviously made a significant contribution to the game of football you wouldn't even know he was. You're looking ONLY at stats; I'm looking at overall impact.

We know who he was because he is a dog torturer. And that is what he will always be known for.

If the Falcons thought for a minute they could get anything better than a headache from the press for Vick, they would have held on longer.
There was NO way Vick was ever going to play for Atlanta again, and definitely no need for him with Ryan at the helm. It was the smart move to release him, but let's not sugar coat it with all the positive "best for Michael" garbage as well.

Exactly right. The dog killer had exceptional athletic talent but little in the mental department. His exceptional athletic abilities are what enabled him to masquerade as a QB for so long. He was good for a Sunday night highlight at best but not for leading an NFL team to the pinnacle.

Before the dog killer was exposed to be the degenerate that he is, whenever I knew Atlanta was playing I would tune in to watch that game. Why? Because I loved to watch him run like a running back on crack trying to evade linemen and linebackers. I think his standard game plan was to look for an opening in which to run and if all avenues of running were closed, then to just close his eyes and throw the ball as far downfield as he could and hope for the best.

His days are over with. The hype has run it's course and the reality has set in. Not only was he a subpar QB but a societal misfit as well.
