What is the regime all about? It is about hiring a guy in McKenzie who can pick players in the draft. Then RM hires a very young coach with "potential". The Raiders are in the hands of a very young coach (not good_. Not like, Jon Gruden young with experienced coaches and Al Davis. Young, with more experienced coaches (this year). I have seen this before. Mike Shanahan in LA. A young guy with potential. He destroyed the team by letting go of the vets like Millen (and McKenzie). Shanahan had to go to Bill Walsh/George Seifert to see how it was done before having success. Al showed to much faith in him, much like RM with DA.

It takes time...I remember when Jerry Jones first bought the Blue Stars of Shame and hired Jimmy Johnson as HC. Jimmy told Jerry to give him 5 years to turn the team around or he'd quit. At the end of the 5 years, he had two superbowl championships.

After this year or next we'll see which way we're really headed.

Wasn't Jimmy Johnson before he arrived in Dallas?

OH YEA, i do know that. i definitely am not blind to that. coran horn made a good point of having him around to play and teach while things get better. it's all good, i see it, i understand it. what do we get out of it? what does he get out of it? WASTED TIME! for him himself and for the RAIDERS. my opinion, let him go! save money and use that money for other f/a's. start pryor or geno smith for that case? it is stated that RAIDERS are in it for the "looooong haul". and like c horn, said, palmer will be a good teaching block "unquote", and it's true, but i still say, throw pryor in. he's been here how many years? and learning?. and, he ain't gonna learn anymore sitting on the bench. he study's hard, dennis allen still doesn't trust him enough, but this is what this "new era team" is about. everything "NEW". and well, let him learn with his new old receivers. and his new (O-coaches). it will be fair for pryor for the amount of years he's been here. it will be fair for palmer, to go elswhere and get paid the money he deserves and to go to a team that is in it to win it. if palmer stays, we're going to have wins for no reason. when pryor is ready to be put in as a starter, they're going to have to change the scheme of play. those two are two different types of (qb's). BUT? if we are going to keep palmer, than, i'd rather see us pick up geno smith in the draft and release or trade pryor. that would make more sense to me. geno smith learning under palmer for those extra two seasons. then, i wouldn't care if palmer was released afterward unless the going is getting too good.

It also seems that some people have forgotten how old Gannon was when we went to the SB. I know I've posted this before but I keep "harping" on it. Can anyone say "39"? And he had 2 bad knees.

Can Palmer stay in the league that long? Does he even want to? Will his body hold up with the aches and pains? Will he be as mobile as Gannon (who was NOT mobile) at 39?

Only time will tell. But Palmer is a fairly young QB in my book. I can easily see him playing for another 4-5 years (if his body holds up) and that should be plenty of time for Reggie to put together a SB team.

Sorry........just to correct my post.......Gannon was actually 37 when he played in the SB. He played 2 more seasons in the league until he was 39.

Carson is young in my book too. Oakland is a good place for hime since his home is SD. If he is traded to Buffalo or somewhere east, he may be decide he has made enough money.

Gannon is a real good example. I believe he could have played longer. He had some kind of neck injury during a tackle. Not age related, just a career ending hit, like Micheal Irvin.

i agree that terrelle pryor needs more playing time. time that probably won't be given to him as long as palmer is here. DA has expressed the "sharing time" or adding "extra plays" for t pryor, but you know that ain't gonna happen that way. once palmer is in there playing, it's hard to sit him for a few plays, it's not going to happen and it's useless! and i also agree that palmer is not going to take us to the promise land. NOT WITH THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING ON AROUND HERE! i definitely prefer carson palmer as the main starter, but we know we are going nowhere this season. OR, for a few more years the way every "new era RAIDER" hopefulls believe. the only way for pryor to get his chance is if palmer is released or traded. then we can get another (qb) in the draft. whether it's geno smith, barkley or any (qb) after that in the draft. i don't think we should go after a (qb) with our first pick but we should pick one later. we ain't going nowhere this season, we know that. we'll save money by releasing palmer. we'll work in terrelle pryor and give him all the chance a (qb) needs. we'll have a draft (qb) as a backup AND, another (qb), a veteran as a third (qb). and continue with what reggie mckenzie and his new regime is doing, rebuilding with youth!
might as will go with the flow! it's all twisted and turned and crooked here with the RAIDERS anyways. but, it's going to get better in the "looooong" run!

I hear what you are saying, if you are going to flush things down the toilet, why not flush everything, right? I like the long haul routine (self-imposed job security). Easy to say now. More difficult when the team is consistently losing and the stadium is empty. Heck, Mark Davis was upset when they did not make progress last season. Back to the flushing thing, they could do it. I don't think it is the best decision, but there have been a lot of bad decisions. Why should this one be any different?

they continue to to say be patient, the stadium last season was practically empty for the most part i believe? 10,000 seats will be tarped. the gm and coaches are not telling you that we are going to get better this season and even better next season. they are telling you to be patient! really? what if (lol) here i go, what if we were patient and we waited all three years, AND? it does not work out? oh lowd! i can see poor mark davis expression for making the wrong decision. okay, i'm fair, what if it does work? i'm still going to be upset because let's say it's taken three years to go 8-8 or 9-8! WHY? we can do 8-8 this season if they wanted too. BUT NOOOO-O! they want a competetive team year after year with no results of a superbowl! who cares if we are not in it every year? it's nice if we are, but we skip a year and we may be in it for the superbowl the following year agaim. that's the way football goes. look, not every team is a dynasty. ask the ravens. lucky skilled were the steelers the patriots the niners. I DON'T EXPECT A DYNASTY? want? yes, expect? no! being real here. we were the team of the decades? we were content with that. we competed here and there for quite a while. we fell hard for a good while, but don't get creative with me about being patient and waiting for that loooooong haul! WHY NOT THIS SEASON? why not last season? just compete, thats all "i" care about and hopefully do like we did in 03, get into the superbowl. there's no guarantee that we will compete every season? players will come and go, coaches will come ad go. changes will happen. and things either get better or worse every season. but don't throw the season away just because?
