If you're going to leave snarky and condescending comments throughout this thread, you might want to get your facts straight first. This bill doesn't have to "pass the Senate." The Senate has already passed its version of a health care bill.
Perhaps you might want to do a little research into what happens next. Or you could ask just about any seventh grader.
FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS:

WASHINGTON – The glow from a health care triumph faded quickly for President Barack Obama on Sunday as Democrats realized the bill they fought so hard to pass in the House has nowhere to go in the Senate.

Speaking from the Rose Garden about 14 hours after the late Saturday vote, Obama urged senators to be like runners on a relay team and "take the baton and bring this effort to the finish line on behalf of the American people."

The problem is that the Senate won't run with it. The government health insurance plan included in the House bill is unacceptable to a few Democratic moderates who hold the balance of power in the Senate.

If a government plan is part of the deal, "as a matter of conscience, I will not allow this bill to come to a final vote," said Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Connecticut independent whose vote Democrats need to overcome GOP filibusters.

"THE HOUSE BILL IS DEAD ON ARRIVAL IN THE SENATE." Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said dismissively.

Heheheheheheheh....heheheheheh ...."ask any 7th grader" ! Heheheheheheheheheh....you should take your OWN advice. I sure hope that name you're using, William Law, isn't in reference to ANYTHING legal, i.e., an attorney. Geez, if you're an attorney your clients are in deep dung !

Well smart guy....that seventh grade you attended must have been in a government run school. Your government loving, "tell us what to do" parents should have had some real concern for you and sent you to a parochial school. Chances are your taxpayer sucking, union teachers didn't know civics either.

Heheheheheheheheh....another lib progressive. Thinks he knows more than the does.

Hey ! Here's a condescending comment for you: You're smarter than you think you are. Actually you're quite pitiful but that's another story. Now if you want to LEARN something, something your government civics teacher didn't teach you, go to the link below and educate yourself a bit:

Freddie Mac says its losses narrowed to $6.3 billion in the third quarter and the company didn't need a federal cash infusion.

The McLean, Va.-based mortgage finance company has received about $51 billion since it was seized by federal regulators in September 2008, but avoided tapping the government for more aid for the second-straight quarter.

The quarterly loss, which works out to $1.94 per share, includes $1.3 billion in dividends paid to the Treasury Department. It compares with a loss of $25 billion, or $19.44 per share, in the year-ago period.

The results were driven by $7.6 billion in credit losses as the company continued to build its reserves for bad mortgages.

:):):):)

THIS, my idiot liberal friends, is the FUTURE of OBAMA care. The Government doesn't HAVE to make money, they just keep taxing us and taking ours to fund what they like to call 'competition'.
And the asshat libs, think this is historic? Oh yes, record poverty for all...THAT is historic.

Freddie Mac said it didn't need any additional federal aid for the second straight quarter as it reported a loss of $6.3 billion for the third quarter on Friday.

But the company said it expected to ask for more handouts from the U.S. Treasury in the future as rising unemployment and falling home prices continue to drive higher credit-related losses for both Freddie and its larger rival, Fannie Mae.

Together with Fannie Mae, which said on Thursday it would need a $15 billion capital injection, the tab for the U.S. government's bailout of both mortgage-finance giants has climbed over the past year to $112 billion, making it one of the costliest government interventions ever to stabilize housing and financial markets.

The U.S. Treasury has agreed to provide as much as $200 billion in capital to each company by buying preferred stock that pays 10% dividends. Regulators took control of Fannie and Freddie through a legal process known as conservatorship 14 months ago.

Both companies have posted losses over the past year as they build up reserves to handle rising volumes of bad loans. Freddie posted credit-related losses of $7.6 billion, compared to $22 billion for Fannie.

The third-quarter loss narrowed from a net loss of $25.3 billion in the same period last year.

The post office says it lost $2.4 billion from April to June.

That brings the year's losses so far to $4.7 billion. And the Postal Service expects to be $7 billion in the red when the fiscal year ends on Sept. 30. The stark figures come from a decline in mail volume as people rely more on e-mail, plus a dip in advertising mail because of the recession.

Not sure why you think I'm a lawyer. And I'm not sure why you're quoting articles instead of referring to the actual procedures of Congress.

Wasn't a health care bill passed by the Senate Finance Committee? That means the Senate will be voting on their own bill, not the bill the House passed.

If the Senate passes its own bill, and all indications are that it will, then????

Funny, I haven't seen the words "conference committee" in any of your posts. Seriously, dude, crack open a book once in a while. Or, at the very least, use your Google.

And just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't mean he's a liberal. He might just be a smarter conservative. I know, these days (and especially on this board) that's an oxymoron. But we do exist.

The Baucas (sp?) bill was passed out of his committee, but any senate bill would need to pass the entire senate including a cloture vote. After that the two bills, House and Senate, would need to be reconciled in conference and then voted on again in each house.
The senate bill faces huge obstacles because of procedural rights of each senator and the need to appease the various requirements of senators, such as the government option and the issue of cost.
As we get into next year the 2010 elections loom large and many of these pols may lose their courage to impose massive new taxes right before election. Especially if unemployment stays high.
Despite the claims of Democrats, the elections in Va and N.J. prove the voters have very little appetite for bigger government and are more concerned with jobs.

If you want to respond TO ME you better get A fact right. THE FULL SENATE HAS NOT PASSED A HEALTH CARE BILL. It was passed OUT OF COMMITTEE only.
F off piss ant.
I wanted to post a link to prove the senate has not yet passed a bill, but the media doesn't report on what has NOT happened.
So why don't you find an article to prove the affirmative.
And I will post any snarky comment I choose to post, because you are obviously a MORON liberal. Prove me wrong, if you can???

Holy crap, lady... take a 'lude.

The Senate will do nothing with the House's bill unless and until it does something with it's own bill that the committee passed. If the bill that the committee passed is passed by the full Senate, then both the House Bill and the Senate Bill go to Conference Committee. The Senate has its own bill. Ergo, saying the Senate will never pass the House's bill makes no sense, in light of the fact that they have their own bill to consider. Cart before horse much?

Is everyone on this board (save three or four semi-rational individuals I've seen post) completely batsheet crazy and unable to converse in a rational manner? My G-d, your post comes across like a screeching psychotic released from the state hospital without her medication.

Just one more reason to be ashamed of the the republican party... people like this whackjob. Seek help, lady. Seek help.

And as for these boards... for the most part, it's a cesspool of lunatic blatherings. I thought when I found it that perhaps there might be some intelligent discourse. Instead, it's just people being as nasty as they can be to one another. Anonymity has its place, but it certainly doesn't come without its problems.

What a disappointment.

Once again, if one disagrees with a progressive the progressive attacks what he/she considers the political party affiliation of the messenger. How many times have I read efforts by libs/progressives/Democrats demonizing Patriots with namecalling, using names such as "teabagger", "wingnut", and other efforts of namecalling meant to denigrate people who believe in those values of what this nation was founded on.

However, I totally agree with your observation of people being as nasty as possible to one another. When I've made an effort, such as you have, to be congenial and offer some intellectual discourse, people I consider left-wing Marxist attacked those efforts. When those same people I consider Marxists made unfounded statements, statements made to attack myself of others, I've responded with questions of that person. Questions asking them to give some definition to their statement, their comments. Instead my questions get ignored or worse, they just name-call.

I agree with most of your comments. In particular the anonymity comment. These same people wouldn't say it to your face. But they'll say it anonymously.

Truly, it is not worth visiting this site and looking to interact. You'll end up with nothing but heartburn.

We're going to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it, signed by a president that also hasn't read it, and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's nearly broke.

What possibly could go wrong?

Daily Horoscope for November 23

Aquarius

You may be noticing the effects of Mars in Aquarius now, which will give you the extra strength you need to fight any battles. Unfortunately, Mars does not impart tact or diplomacy as one of his gifts, so try to think before you speak as much as possible. Legal issues can become thorny over the next month or so; employ strategy rather than brute strength to win the day.
