"People get offended by animal rights campaigns. It's ludicrous. It's not as bad as mass animal death in a factory." - Richard Gere

"Every year tens of thousands of animals suffer and die in laboratory tests of cosmetics and household products...despite the fact that the test results do not help prevent or treat accidental or purposeful misuse of the products. Please join me in using your voice for those whose cries are forever sealed behind the laboratory doors." - Woody Harrelson

"In fact, if one person is unkind to an animal it is considered to be cruelty, but where a lot of people are unkind to animals, especially in the name of commerce, the cruelty is condoned and, once large sums of money are at stake, will be defended to the last by otherwise intelligent people." - Ruth Harrison

"Ever occur to you why some of us can be this much concerned with animals suffering? Because government is not. Why not? Animals don't vote." - Paul Harvey

"If we are trespassing, then so were the American soldiers who broke down the gates of Hitler’s death camps. If we are thieves, then so were the members of The Underground Railroad who freed the slaves from the South. And if we are vandals, then so were those who destroyed forever the gas chambers of Buchenwald and Auschwitz." - Animal Liberation Front

Notice how the trolls seem to always have to copy what ARAs do?
You're welcome.

Yes, i noticed. I posted several quotes on an Animal Rights thread last year and in a matter of minutes the trolls started posted quotes too. Pathetic, huh? Lol

When a (non human) animal kills an animal in the wild, I don't like the thought of it at all, but I consider that inevitable. Those birds, tigers, etc. don't have the options that humans do to use alternative products. When I first became a vegan almost 20 years ago, there was hardly any alternatives to dairy/meat, but now there are so many and they actually taste amazing and have no cholesterol and usually less fat. So, animals hunting in nature isn't the same to me as humans hunting, due to the fact that we have other options that can cause less suffering.
You really should try out having a garden, you won't believe how different that carrot will taste!! A tomato from the garden is like candy!(if you like tomatoes) I have the same problem tho, with my garden being eaten, but by squirrels. This year I'll be caging my plants. I even feed them peanut butter sandwiches, you'd think they'd at least share the garden with me!!!
<quoted text>
I don't like tomatoes, but I like everything that can be made with them. Spaghetti, tomato soup, etc...They just need to be smashed.:) Don't ask me why....

I don't see much difference between humans and animals,(as far as what we are made of). We are another animal species here on earth. Like them, we have hearts, lungs, veins, bones, teeth, eyes, muscles, etc, etc,. We, and they, have digestive, respiratory, reproductive systems, etc, etc,...

Yes, we do alot of what I believe are "unnatural" things.
But we are just as natural as they are and are part of the equation when it comes to predator/prey relationships. In a world where everything eats each other to survive, I see nothing wrong with us eating them. Sometimes they even eat us.

Not really. Most people just laugh much of it off. It's the arson and razor blades in the mail that is offensive.

Very true. That's great about your coworker and your own land management btw. Has anyone else seen all the monarch butterflies around this year? I haven't seen that many since I was a kid, I think there's been some kind of project to help them from becoming endangered.
I wish I could share some dishes with you! I make really amazing shepherd's pie that my friends thought was actually meat. I use veggie ground. I also make awesome tacos with that and "meat" sauce for pasta. Killer lasagna too made with vegan ricotta, mozzarella and Parmesan. Too bad I can't share with you :)
<quoted text>
I heard Monarchs got hit hard in Mexico this year. Habitat destruction is getting closer and closer to their wintering spot. Hopefully it's enough of an attraction that the government will make sure it remains protected.

I haven't seen any yet, but I have seen tons of Red Admirals already this spring.

There are places you can go in late summer to watch Monarchs as they migrate south if you'd like to see them again.

Wild animals need to eat meat for survival. Whether the meat be from another wild animal or human doesnt matter, as long as he/she gets a meal.
Humans on the other hand DO NOT need meat for survival therefore it is wrong for us to kill animals for food.
Not all wild animals need meat for survival. Should those that don't need it quit eating it?

Bears can eat blueberries.
Birds can eat seeds and berries.
Squirrels can survive on nuts and seeds.

Other animals seem to think it's okay to kill for meat, even though they don't need it. Why can't we?

"Humans are inferior"?
RFLMAO

You would have no reason for the rest of your whining little rant if we weren't the apex predator on the planet.

I really, really, really do get a humongous kick out of your illogical thought process.
