Study finds black vegetarians healthier than their meat-eating counterparts
African-American vegetarians are at lower risk of cardiovascular disease, and even diabetes and high blood pressure, most likely from the healthy eating practices, says a new study from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California.

And of course, even full veganism is not necessary to be at least somewhat healthier. For instance, baking meat instead of frying it is one compromise, and to take it further, you could add more vegetables and decrease the meat serving size.
