The vegan population is now estimated to be at 1.2%,(bigger than the hunting population lol) it is rising, slowly yes, but its still rising.

More and more people are realising that the vegan diet is healthier than a meat diet and more animal friendly too :)

Never feel intimidated, or embarrassed about being vegan, or vegetarian. Those who look at you weird, or make rude comments are usually just ignorant.

The animal agriculture industry views farm animals as mere commodities. This mentality has led to widespread institutionalized cruelty, culminating in the advent of three particularly abhorrent confinement systems (battery cages, gestation crates and veal crates) more in link:

A growing number of meat, milk and egg product labels suggest that the animals they came from were treated “humanely.” Learn more:

As the undeniable links between meat, milk and egg consumption and environmental devastation are uncovered by science and find their way into the mainstream consciousness, more and more people are learning about the importance of eating lower on the food chain and adopting a vegan diet. There are at most 1 million vegans in the USA. There are also about 20 million hunters. Couple that with the fact that 75% of our population consistently supports regulated hunting and the writing is on the wall... You are statistically insignificant at best.

I don't think vegans are weird because they choose to adhere to an esoteric diet. That's a choice they are free to make and I support that freedom. Having said that, I do think a lot of vegans are weird because they think that they are somehow superior to the rest of the human race as a result of this dietary choice. I think they are weird because they would force others to abide by their choices if they could rather than letting others make choices for themselves. Finally, I think many of them are insane because they are willing to commit acts of terrorism to get what they want.

You are forgetting something, the USA isnt the world. There are more countries in the world than the USA.

The World has 6.9 billion people of which 1.2% are vegans (vegetarians are estimated to be between 7 and 8%, btw) and 1% are hunters.

Vegans outnumber hunters WORLDWIDE.

While you idiots are busy killing each other, the vegan population continues to get much bigger.

Well first, you should know that most of the World's terrorists are meat eaters and those that commited 9/11 were meat eaters.

I go onto many websites where i educate meat eaters on the dangers of consuming animals products and i have successfully have gotten many to go vegetarian and vegan (i keep in touch with some) but i dont force them. I believe they should know what they're putting into their bodies and the dangers they face because of it. I also educate them on the meat and diary indutries propaganda. Many meat eaters are clueless to be fair and their eyes needs opened.

When i educate them and they still continue to consume the deadly posions (meat and dairy) i say fair enough, your choice. I know not everyone will want to go vegan but they still have a right to know what they're consuming and the propaganda the meat and dairy industries spread.

I dont sit on Topix all day. There has been a few times i've been off for over 1 month and not long ago i was off for over two weeks. I also volunteer at a nearby animal shelter and do many other things, mostly at night and the early hours of the morning.

The people that spend all day on Topix are Sqauch, Gokeefe and Hiss of Death. You're getting mixed up.

Looks like the only reason why you "help" animals is to brag about it. Thats all you have ever done since you've been on here.

Are you seriously saying terrorism is a result of eating meat? Yeah douchebag, it has nothing to do with religion or race or ethnicity or politics or economy.

You are really digging.

First, I wasn't talking about "most of the world's terrorists", I was talking about ARA terrorists. Second, I don't believe the meat industries propaganda any more than I do yours. I've already stated many times that many in western societies eat too much meat. Too much of ANYTHING is harmful. Processed sugar is the other biggie. The proper healthy diet for omnivores is a balance of plant and animal based food.

For omnivores, yes of course, but we humans are herbivores (according to our bodies) so the best diet for us is a plant based one.

You are mistaken. Humans are omnivores and have been since the dawn of time. We have archeological and anthropological evidence of humans hunting and eating meat in North America about 17,000 years ago. We also have modern evidence of chimps, once thought to be herbivores, using hunting weapons, hunting, killing, and eating other species. If you choose to believe that humans are herbivores you are free to do so but that doesn't make it a fact.

No, humans are actually herbivores. That is a fact and our bodies prove it.

Your first sentence is so non-sequitir that it's quite funny.

First, y'all are bragging here on this forum that the world vegan population is jumping -- what?! It's all of what? 1 or 2 percent?!!!

OMG....ding ding ding....I'll take vegan vs. meat eater for $100, Alex. The question: What is the idea of proportion in mathematics?

Does it not stand to reason in your mind then that eating meat DOES NOT cause one to be violent?

Brilliant. Especially considering that we were founded on the idea of individual freedom. Which IMHO is a large underlying issue here.
