Veganism: humanism

Many cultures equate meat-eating with virility, and in some societies women offer men the "best" (i.e., bloodiest) food at the expense of their own nutritional needs. Building upon these observations, feminist activist Adams detects intimate links between the slaughter of animals and violence directed against women. She ties the prevalence of a carnivorous diet to patriarchal attitudes, such as the idea that the end justifies the means, and the objectification of others. In "Frankenstein" (1818), Mary Shelley made her Creature a vegetarian, a point Adams relates to the Romantics' radical politics and to visionary novels by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Dorothy Bryant and others (source: Publishers Weekly).

Vegetarianism involves the ingestion of purely fruits and vegetables and protein-rich vegetables in substitution for heavy meats. Veganism involves the ingestion of only foods that have no animal derivatives whatsoever. Vegans abstain not only from meats but also from dairy products such as chicken eggs and from purchasing animal-derived goods such as leather clothing.

Because veganism is a more austere "version" of vegetarianism, many equate the marketing of veganism with social opportunities for women to forward couture self-determination rights.

This sort of thinking and opportunism reflects today's neon consumerist attitudes that define the psyche appeal of market goods such as the restaurant profit-thrill video game "Diner Dash" (GameLab).

Do these gender considerations ironically reflect the new age psyche marketability of the feminism-gluttony Hollywood (USA) movie "Wife vs. Secretary" (1936)?

Are they printing movie posters on hemp/recycled paper yet?

God bless!

Incidentally, the Adams author reference from the Publishers Weekly citation at the beginning of this note points to the progressive feminist author Carol J. Adams, whose meaningful work "The Sexual Politics of Meat" (1990) can be found on the accessible website Amazon.com

Cheers
