I found that the atmosphere was less than inviting since it was difficult to navigate what to do. The food was alright, but it was food that I could cook in my own kitchen. There was pressure to leave more than it was worth. I doubt that I'll go back.

This is an intriguing concept, but I do agree that there is pressure to leave more than it was worth and that the food was alright. I've gone twice - the first time they had meatloaf and the second time, they had mac and cheese. Since they don't have a set menu, it is also hard to plan to go and have alternatives in case I don't like the menu of the day. I do wish them luck - we do need more moms-pops restaurants in this area.

Agree on the price pressure. It really doesn't seem to jive with the concept. And it's almost too casual - wasn't greeted, had to kinda walk around and guess how to order. Had to ask the chef guy and he was slightly less than enthused. Plus, if you remotely have any germophobic tendancies, this ain't the place for you. It smelled a little like compost, like a college commune kitchen. The concept is there, but the execution is lacking. The food wasn't good enough to overcome the cafe's handicaps.
