Larry Wilson: Arroyo Food Co-Op is way beyond organic

There are 1 comment on the Pasadena Star-News story from Jun 30, 2010, titled Larry Wilson: Arroyo Food Co-Op is way beyond organic. In it, Pasadena Star-News reports that:

I wrote a couple of months ago about the burgeoning Arroyo Food Co-Op. It would be a locally owned and operated operation combining the best of the local-foods movement, the slow-food movement, the fun and tasty farmers markets that are so popular in so many of our cities, Jones Coffee and Europane, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.

Larry, I don't think the Unions are going to be pleased if everyone starts buying their produce from farmers markets and Aunt Mabel's backyard tomato vine---doing so would jeopardize Union jobs at supermarkets.

Besides, the Unions are giving all that money to your beloved candidates Barbara Boxer and Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown to ensure that the special interests of the Unions will be protected.

Additionally, Larry, aren't you concerned that backyard produce is not being properly inspected by federal regulators ? And what about lost sales tax revenue from many of these "under the table" transactions ?

We need more Community Organizers to get out there and illuminate these issues on behalf of the people.

It's a potential stepping stone to the White House !
