Associated Press 10/15/13 GALVESTON, Texas- Sammy Ray, a founder of Texas A&M University at Galveston whose marine research brought him international acclaim, has died.

The World is a darker place without Sammy Ray. He lived a storied life and made a very real positive difference in everything he touched. TAMUG, Sea Camp and Seabourne Conservation Corp are three of his most notable successes I feel privileged and blessed to have known him.
