it was a nightmare but after 20 yrs in merrick, we finally had the worst night out. Our reservaton was for 9pm. Out of 4 bartenders, not one thought enough of me to give me a drink so after 35 of trying I left the bar area. That left our group of 10 by a fireplace that did nothing to keep us warm by a cold, windy front door. The two greeters (and I do use the term loosely, were constant in that they did nothing to make our stay more comfortable. Everytime we aske about our table, we got a different answer so that by 10:30, when were were told that it just might not happen for us, then, I finally lost control and screamed for a table...meanwhile still no drink in hand. Any other "SMART " restaurant would have been filling our glasses, on the house and/or kept us happy in some manner...NOT THERE, NO WAY!!!!!! anyway, fast forward to 11pm when we finally started to get our food...it was one mistake after another...ice cold sweet potato fries, not a serving spoon to be found in any of our 4 bowls of veggies, etc. Dressing on, instead of on the side, misquoted information about our dinners all while we froze underneath ceiling fans in the midst of winter. The manager was of no help. Our bill came and guess what, more mistakes in their favor...3 to be exact including 2 extra dishes added that we never had nor asked for. The ending of this nightmare was more than we could have ever imagined when, standing outside already, saying goodbye to each other, the owner and the waiter came running after us accusing us of running out without paying...screaming on merrick avenue for all our neighbors to here. well,of course after re-checking our table, they miraclously found the cash underneath a napkin...An apology you ask???? Hell no, not the Brooks and Porter people, they are above that. They will seat you as they see it..even if it means a group that comes in hrs after you. And if you think they are interested in making the customer happy, think again....I can't wait to ell everyone not to even bother trying it.

Can anyone confirm that these guys were involved in that situation? if so i'd really need the owner to make some statement before I'd consider going back. Went to dinner last nite and thought everything was really good, but that coach fight issue does bother me. If true like to hear their side of story or an apology before giving community support by way of dollars to this restaurant, even if food is excellent. Community togetherness matters

Can anyone confirm if the owners are in fact involved with the attack on the coach. I had an enjoyable experience at the restaurant but if they were involved I certainly would need to hear an apology or their side of the story to allow me to spend dollars to support their business in our community. Community togetherness means something and they should explain themselves rather than to just come in to make money. did they provide restitution to injured Dad?

You can check it out yourself, They will be at 1st District Court in Hempstead on April 1, 2008 for pre-trial hearings. I heard they will be getting JAIL TIME for what they did to that Coach , The worst part is they did this in front of our 11 year old Bellmore and Merrick kids!! Why would anyone want to give money to these thugs, all the money you spend at their restaurant is going in the pockets of criminals.

I see that the Recession is hitting Long Island pretty hard. The restuarants are empty, the malls are too. The $60 to fill up the SUV had rendered the roads vitually car less.

Check out this link below. If the owners of thie restaurant are really these brothers from the article, I don't care how good there food is - I would not give them my business. Can anyone confirm this for a fact?

I heard a rumor that the coach will be issuing an apology for instigating the entire melee. He wasn't hurt at all. Amazing what the media can do with a story.

I think it is essential that we know what happened on that baseball field from both the coach and the brothers.i realize statements may not be able to be made due to ongoing legal proceedings, but as soon as they are completed we, as a comunity, must know the truth and if ,in fact, the brothers are guilty they owe the coach and the comunity an apology. I for noe will never step foot in that restaurant no matter how superb the food, if these are "bad' and unrepentant guys.I think the Bellmore/Merrick comunity should stand together in this matter

Who ever mentioned being hit in the head? The only person that would know that is the Basile's, who made up that story with their son.Nobody EVER got hit or thrown at, Period. Does this restaurant deliver to Nassau County Jail?

First to all those that plan not to eat at a restaurant b/c of an incident you've got a long list of places you cant eat at, clothes you cant wear etc etc if you are trying to be the moral majority.
Second, I heard this same coach who had the run in with Basile's had a run in with other parents during a bellmore basketball game recently and has since been thrown out of the league. maybe he is indeed the instigator. only time will tell and if the basiles are vindicated its unfortunate it will be on page 37 in the fine print.

Finally, a great guy's night out. My party of 10 was well received from the minute we walked in the door. Ten hard working husbands from the neihborhood were happy not to drive to the north shore for once, to enjoy a professional steakhouse experience. The bartenders were attentive. Our wait staff (3 guys handled our table) were dressed as if we were in a true new york steakhouse. They let us enjoy the night and did not rush us out the door after our meal. Granted it was a Thurs. night, but the place was jumping when we got there. We waited at the bar for fifteen minutes. This place is visually pleasing with the mahogony trim and high ceilings. This bar scene will be a hot hang out too. The owners might be bullys in Bellmore, but you got to be ruthless to run a great restaurant. This restaurant is a great reward for those of us who work hard for our money.
