Broasted chicken and beyond at Smarty's Restaurant & Pub

There are 9 comments on the The Day story from Dec 11, 2009, titled Broasted chicken and beyond at Smarty's Restaurant & Pub. In it, The Day reports that:

Who knew you could get broasted chicken in Connecticut? Who knows what broasted chicken is? Turns out it's sort of a pressurized deep-frying process that theoretically renders the bird less greasy and moister.

My husband and I went to Smarty's for dinner and got served not broasted but RAW chicken. The manager complained about how long it would take to make another chicken what did we want to do?!

Got charged almost $20 for a Shrimp Ceasar Salad because the waitress neglected to tell me that the
cold, not grilled shrimp, were $4 apiece. Forget this place for dinner. Ok if you want to sit at the bar.

Just another crappy resturant in the fire/rat trap Morton House.

Do yourself a favor and try McDonalds, it is a cut above this place.

Thought we would try Smarty's , ordered 2 orders of fish and chips , one order of broasted chicken, ours didn't come raw just didn't come at all. Waitress came over around 35 minutes later and said that it would be another ten minutes there wasn't enough room in the broaster wow that was only at lunch wonder what happens at dinner , left and ent to 5 guys , much better

We go there all the time. Food has been excellent with huge portion and reasonalbe pricing.
Service is great, especially, Adam, the waiter is very personable, funny and just simply great. The broasted chicken, the talk of town, it is very good and we never got served "raw". So far, our experience has been good no complains and we would recommend this restaurant to all my friends.

Went there this weekend. While I agree that the portions are large, teh food is average at best. The Black Sheep and the Lyme Tavern provide better quality.

Not horrible, but there are better places in town.

Plus at the Lyme Tavern you get to see all to overage drunk floozies hit on every guy in the joint. There is one 50+ cougar that brings her SPED kid in with her and then proceeds to drink the place dry
