great band at Two Boots last night. By midnight it was standing room only. Lots of music at Murphy's too. Cafe Roma was standing room only as was Metric Cafe. Roberto's and Ralph and Rich's had a solid crowd. Parking was at a premium everywhere. Looks like Cafe Bistro will be opening soon. The The Downtown Cabaret had its 8th sold out performance of the Beatles show (they will be returning in August). A Rolling Stone show is scheduled for later in the year. A 70's review called '8-Track' is coming in a couple of weeks. Playhouse on the Green has a great line-up and the Bridgeport Symphony performs next Saturday night. Back to the Cabaret: the place was rockin'. Even 10-11 year old children knew all the words and were up on their feet dancing. A great Friday night in Bridgeport. Sunday night everyone better be routing for the UCONN WOMEN to bury Stanford.

How about a Country Western bar? It has not been tried in Bridgeport and would catch on if it's done right. So much better the a pool hall and would not attract so many problems. It seems that a pool hall and a bar/club that caters to a younger crowd seems to attract the wrong element.

That's were the problems start the fights and the shootings. The one issue is where would you put it? Building one from the ground up may not work. If you start one up small just to see how it goes,it may be worth the try.

That club by I-95 and Cherry Street would be ideal but there is no place to park.

Any reasonable ideas folks?

Lots to do? A baseball game and an arena event every now and then. Why not something that draws people to that area before and keeps them there when the event is over.

Or just a new place to go. A restaurant with a view of the sound. A family eatery along with a sports bar. The bar could be set up for the sporting seasons.

A batting cage, basketball hoops and even a hockey rink.

I would like to see something at Seaside Park. You should be able to rent a jet ski,or take a lesson on para sailing or windsurfing. There could be small seasonal shops that open on Memorial Day and Close on Labor Day. There could be a nice restaurant or three there too. Imagine having dinner and watching the sunset? There is so much more that could be done if people would just get their act togther.

If Seaside Park was in Greenwich or Stamford,it would have been developed by now.

It's a real shame that all that's there is sand, water and what you bring.

Downtown Bridgeport is safe. Many of the tenants in City Trust and Artspace have DOGS of all sizes big and small (me, I have a little white llaso) and walk them in the downtown at all hours. There are real people now in the downtown after work and weekends. So give it up and get with the positive program.
Hey Nancy, why dont you tell the folks how many cars have been broken into in the citytrust parking garage. Or how many people have had money and computers stolen from their locked apartments. then tell us how safe your delusional world is.

An organic pizza place as the 'linchpin' of a revitalization?? How about a community-based indoor open-air market type thing instead? Anyone here ever been to Eastern Market down in DC? Vendors both local and from out-of town, a huge flea market on the weekends, and always packed with people especially on the weekends.
At any rate, I never saw Ancona's wife without a sneer on her face while living here and I never had a conversation with here that wasn't centered on her complaints about Citytrust (and her in the penthouse, nonetheless), and whenever I saw the two of them together, she was always yelling at her husband. I think Mr. Ancona's got bigger problems in his life his upscale pizza parlor being delayed....
Putting something in like the Eastern Market in Bridgeport is a great idea.

Would anyone recommend moving into City Trust now or wait out until the end of the renovations?

The downtown area is starting to change for the better, especially within the past year. There are a lot of nice restaurants downtown, plus the Klein, Harbor Yard and the Downtown Cabaret. I've been there lots of times and felt safe. Hopefully another tenant will move it. I'm glad that downtown Bridgeport is turning around. So, don't write off the downtown area. Visit and see for yourself.
i agrre. I live in the city and I see change on the way. Many people have such negative things to say about the city. The city has crime yes, right along with other cities and towns across the nation. If I remember correctly fairfield just had a murder. our political people stole so much from the city and the people of the city. I see bridgeport as a stamford soon.

To LFB: Several tenants moved in May 1st. I've been here since October. It is a great place to live. Great tenants- over 80 units occupied of the total of 117. Easy access to the train. Parking if you need it (many tenants don't). The TCO was just issued on 144 Golden Hill today- another 36 units.
To Liza: you are so wrong. So very wrong. In fact two more restaurants opened in the last week: State Street Bistro next to the Playhouse and a Jamaican restaurant in the old Ralph and Riches. Stop bashing a good thing.

Serious, wait until after all the work is done. Most of us move into apartments that had things wrong, and the land lord promise to repair after we move in to the apartment, and the repairs never happen.

Seems bport is the only place crimes occur every other town is spotless people jump back to reality, I do admit Bridgeport has its ghetto parts I used to live on the eastside in the 90s that's when bport was really bad now I am a resident of black rock and for anyones info it is very nice I mean to the point where people that drive Bentleys, Mercedes etc park right infront of my place ( hope people are getting the hint) downtown bport is not bad like people really think it is anymore bport is changing wether people want it or not there are sure alot of haters outthere

I submitted an app, was approved and am actually swinging by this Saturday to fill out lease agreement. Any recommendations or items that I should address or have reflected in the agreement.
Thanks in advance for any of your insights. BTW: looking at 910, 1010, and 314.

No biggie, but I have no idea why it is indicated that I am from Uniondale NY as I live in Eastern Long Island!

The Downtown area of Bridgeport is really on the up swing. It has everything that many professionals want: easy access to I-95, Route 8, Merritt Parkway, Metro North railway, Amtrack, Ferry to Long Island, fine restaurants, shows, shopping, and reasonable rent. It is very easy to walk to the train and go to New Haven, SoNo, Stamford or Midtown Manhattan.
