Some seriously good chow. Highly recommend if you get to the Tidewater Region of Virginia.

My girlfriend and I live right down the road so we've tried the place on three separate occassions. All I can say is three strikes and you're out. While the pizza is good, we've never had a positive experience there and we've pretty much written them off.
We went for the first time the very first week they opened. The experience was terrible, but we wrote it off to them being new and working the kinks out of their system.
The second and third time were more of the same, and on one of the occassions we even got to witness one of the servers and the owner having a yelling match right there in the restaurant.
This place also loses points for having one of the owners (a gentleman w/ salt-n-pepper hair) just kind of wander around lost while staring at you. Top it all of w/ a cliched print of "The Godfather" in the men's room (Italian restaurant The Godfather Gimme a break...that's cheesier than the mozzarella) and it's a bust.

I agree with Mediocre. Our time at Buon Amici was by far one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I think the owner referenced above was behind the bar when we arrived. We were not acknowledged nor offered a drink while we waited for our table. Finally one server noticed our plight and asked us for our bar order. This after sitting there for over 5 minutes trying to get "clueless" to wait on us. The sad thing is that it was not even crowded. Our waiter was extremely obnoxious. The food was virtually inedible. We stopped for take out at another establishment on the way home. Never again.

I took my wife there for her birthday. We had an excellent experience all around. A bit pricey (ca.$160 for the two of us), but worth every penny.

Our 22 year old son worked for this resturant...for s short time...bad experience. Owners cursed at employees daily. When he was newly employeed my husband and I went to dinner at Buon Amici. We waited for several minues before anyone gave us a menu.(Owner was walking around, not helping or doing anything). Took 25+ minutes before our simple meal came. The bread the sub was on was BURNT. We had asked for cheese, there was none when the food was served. We asked our server to have cheese added, but not to cook the bread anymore, as it was already burnt. Can you believe they brought back the same BURNT sub roll, after the cheese had been added? I am sure the owner noticed this, but he said nothing. While we were waiting for our subs, my husband witnessed the owner cursing (F word) to one of his employees. This is the truth. There are tons of other resturants in Williamsburg that are tons better. Never again to this place!

I've been to Buon Amici twice recently to try it out. The food was okay, but the service deplorable. My son & I walked into the cafe end (not well marked) and a group of 4-5 older patrons came in behind us. The "cashier" looked passed my son & I and asked the other party if they wanted to be in the dining room or cafe. The gentleman in that group pointed out that we were there first, to which the "cashier" then said, "which do you want?" No greeting, no explanation of how the cafe/dining room differed. I felt like I was not wanted there. The restaurant was not very clean, the staff was rude to each other in my presence...overall poor experience.

We went there tonight for dinner after having been there several times. We walked in at 5:45, & the hostess sat us at a table that was reserved for 7:30. Our server was excellent to start off. However, about 3 mins after we got our dinner (around 6:30), the party of 8 that had our table arrived an hour early. A different hostess attempted to seat them & then realized the problem. After figuring this out, the hostess that had sat us offered them all free bar drinks. They declined -- & literally stood around our table for the rest of our meal. The staff then cleared our plates the min the forks hit them & brought us a check w/o asking whether we wanted coffee, dessert, etc - at 6:45. I asked to speak to the manager, which I have done exactly 2x in my life. When the manager came, I praised our server but explained that we had felt extremely rushed & that the guests were making us uncomfortable standing at the end of the table waiting for us to finish. His response - "Sorry, it's crowded." We were lucky we got that, as he attempted to walk away while I was speaking. So the other party gets free liquor for being an hour early... and we don't get so much as a free soda for being rushed out. We will not be dining here again.
