I truly believe if children are not exposed to germs they will not build their immunity system. There is no bubble in a day in day out situation. They drink organic mild then pick up their binky from the floor and place it in their mouth. There is no win win situation.

Well, here it is again, parents afraid to let kids be kids. My kids (now 20 and 25.both sons) were allowed to play in the dirt ,swim in creeks, ride ponies, play in the hayloft, and God forbid, eat without washing their little hands. I did cook, from scratch, everything they ate, from all meals to cookies, brownies etc. They did not get soda pop till they were at least 5 years old. Because of this neither of them ever really developed a taste for sodas, drink some today but not alot. Also, my windows were left open, no air conditioning used except when excessivly humid.Pollen and pet dander blew through my house from the time they were born, because of this neither has any allergies, never once had an earache, never missed school. Now I am sure I did alot wrong with my kids, but I think I did a whole lot right too. Did I yell too much during fights they had with each other, absolutley. But neither of them seems scarred by my parenting skills, so I can only assume they survived childhood intact, which is the ultimate goal of all parents. Let them be kids, let them get dirty, let them eat outside, and who cares if they feed the dog then eat. They have made it to young adulthood and my job is mostly over, except for being their mom and occasional support when needed. Our home is their soft place to fall and we love them both dearly. Perfect childhood, not so much, we didn't get to Disney World, too expensive for us. We went on a vacation maybe 3 times during their childhoods, we did go to the river/creeks to swim (free) we grilled hotdogs and burgers, we lit sparklers on July 4th, A small life but I really don't think they felt like they were missing anything.Let them be kids and don't worry about giving them everything, there's alot of joy in watching them earn what they want.
