I think that if they are gonna get food stamps then the state needs to make them work it off. that is wahts wrong with wv's they are lazy.I think they should give our elders some of these stamps, they deserve it. These women walking around with 3 to 4 or more kids to different dads tie their damn tubes. these fathers that dont want to help these mothers then give them a vesectomy. In the long run it will be cheaper. There is no reason a mother of children cant work. I have three kids and my husband and I decided to work different shifts to raise our own kids, with no help from anyone. people are just lazyand doesnt want to work. the state needs to help the ones who truly need it, the ones that cant help themselves. like the elderly and disabled.THE TRULY DISABLED. THIS SYSTEM SUCKS AND ITS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE.

If a woman with three or four kids has little or no education, then her job choices are limited - generally to a minimum wage job. After taxes and gas $$ to travel to/from work, that leaves very little to actually put towards food and bills. The really bad thing is, when people actually WANT to work, they are cut off from food stamps - They should be given food stamps to supplement their job earnings.
And, just as "no comment" said, you should go back to school yourself because you either can't spell or you can't type.

The woman with 3 or 4 kids and no education should have thought about that before she laid down and got pregnant. People need to quit relying on other people to make their way for them. These people that are losing their houses to forclosure this is their own fault. The majority of them couldnt afford the house before they bought it and they knew it. But everyone wants to keep up with the Jones.I say lets help out the elderly and the kids to get them all medical insurance that pays. Not just for the kids that their parents are too lazy to work or on drugs and cant work. all kids should get a medical card. Food stamps well hell thay eat better than I do. Most of the time they drive nicier cars and have alot of pretty jewerly. sell the shit and buy yourself some food.I'm tired of working to support you lazy ass people!!!!!

Not all people that get food stamps are lazy and uneducated. Not everyone that works for the federal gov. has a four year degree either. Not everyone can find a high paying job even with a masters degree.Sometimes hard working people need help and that`s what food stamps are for.A lot of people are getting layed off from their jobs now including the gov. jobs and may need help. The ones that are not getting layed off are having their hours cut.Just because you work for the federal gov.doesn`t mean you can`t lose your job,and if you do you may very well need food stamps too.So don`t be so quick to judge others. All you need to do is watch the news to see how bad some people have been hit hard by the ecomomy.

Hey, this is not a comment directed @ anyone in particular, but,...I have a full time job,(at least $3/hr > min.wage), 3 kids, house pymnt, veh. pymnt,(both behind on). I go to college full time,( 160 miles/ day), and I do receive food stamps. Not everyone is LAZY, DRUGGIES, OR WORTHLESS that receive assistance.( I missed that section on the application I guess). Times are tough for everyone right now! If I didn't get food stamps, my kids wouldn't eat! God knows I don't have time for another job. I do agree that some people do get help and do nothing to contribute to the economy, but, I have worked since I was 14 yrs. old, graduated HS, had a child @ 19,(worked FT and started my degree also), I do not think that food stamps are for "worthless" people. Oh yeah, my home is a dbl. wide, I only borrowed 75K, 10 yrs ago.

that comments that I make on here is not to hurt anyone feelings or make them feel bad.I ONLY have my opinions. I never said that everyone on food stamps are lazy or druggies but alot are. I would however like to see more help from the state go to medical insurance for the kids and the elderly. I know quite a few men and women out there that get it all. check, foodstamps, and a medical card and why do they get it? they know how to work the system. they is no goddly reason why they cant work they just dont have to.

I totally agree, I see these people every day I go to work. It really pisses me off when I have to sign their "travel vouchers"! I don't get paid to go to the Dr.

How many of these people do you actually KNOW on a personal level? How many have you had a conversation with? It sounds to me like you're just promoting a stereotype from every redneck movie, TV interview, or TV show you've ever seen. I have opinions too, and I prefer to believe that most of the people who have to sign up for food stamps actually HAVE to. I don't think it's an option or luxury for the majority of them. Again, just MY OPINION

does one ever notice that most welfare folks i see have such a lardass (usually several feet wide) and a belly looking like a litter of pups is about to be born is a visual example of total irresponsibility in their lives as is with most of society. they dont buy/eat the right foods, most smoke, drink, play the tax-on-the-stupid game (aka the lottery) and contribute NOTHING to society but only TAKE. any kids involved are also for the most part are fatties too at such a young age. usually there are different dads(not of the same race usually) with each child as the montra with the welfare crowd is to be more horizontal than out WORKING paying for their lads and not suckling off the state or national nipple. personal responsibility works everytime its tried, but is as rare as snow in june to be found with almost anybody, and all those that are not responsible want to blame anybody and God but look at their own image and see the real fault. i get so tired of the blame game when it is self-caused,but i have to give them FREE money, rent, food medical, etc.MY PAYCHECK MAKES YOUR WELFARE POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!

The majority of the blame for our "Welfare Fiasco" can be placed at the feet of our elected officials and the federal government. Change the policy and you'll see that each state will start saving millions of dollars.

When you have poor people in rural areas of our state that are second or third generation welfare clients, it would appear that there's something wrong with the system, as well as the social mores of the community.

Yes, a large percentage of people that receive aid from the state are playing the system. However, my personal experience has been that most of the people truly need the help. I observed this first hand for over 20 years.

I agree that a lot of girls and women are irresponsible with their useage of birth control. However, these children didn't chose to be born. They have the basic human needs we all have--food, clothing and shelter. These children are innocent. Who are we to withhold food stamps from them because their parents are of questionable character? They will be the first ones to suffer from hunger and possible malnutrition.(I was one of those kids. I won't wish it on anyone).

I pay taxes too. My OPINION on this subject is to fix the system first. The food stamp policy in every state has been set up and operates under mandates from the federal government. We should be demanding welfare reform from our representatives, at the national and state level. If the food stamp and WV Works policy were revised, their won't be so much abuse of the system.

A note to Disgusted: Yes, spelling and grammar are important. I worked hard for my Associates and BA degree. I'm not willing to be "dumbed down" by anyone or any Internet site.

I was taught in elementary school that spelling is important. I was the person everyone in the office came to when they couldn't spell something. My personal observation is that you have job where other people do most of your work and you set back and rest on their laurels.

Yes, a lot of people on food stamps are overweight. However, it's an epidemic in this state. It's a problem effecting the majority of the state's population. According to federal statistics, WV has one of the fattest populations in the country.
