NYC bans big, sugary drinks

New York City's Board of Health opened up a new, experimental front in the war on obesity Thursday, passing a rule banning sales of big sodas and other sugary drinks at restaurants, concession stands, and other eateries.

I'd like a double big mac with biggies fries an ice cream sundae and 5 cokes please.

More sales = more taxes on said sales and that's what this is really about, finding new and inventive ways to separate you from what little you already have.
If it was really about health and well being driving would be banned,skydiving ,rock climbing skateboarding, bike riding, along with a myriad of other hazards to every day life.

On one hand I dislike the intrusion of the govt, but thinking about it, perhaps it's a good thing to start sending a message to the manufacturers that they should pay attention to the health of their consumers, rather than the cheapest ingredients whilst poisoning the public.

Well gotta say that if it's the Mayor's intention to cause a mountain of publicity about our greatest national health risk, then I think it's a clever move.
Totally understand the libertarian view which makes some sense, but again, I think this is Bloomberg's way of gaining national recognition for the obesity epidemic which seriously plagues each and every American locality and community.
