Absolutely not. We should more, bigger and better burgers. Why? Because we like them. Who's afraid of a little E. coli now and then. Just cook the the meat thoroughly and all is good.

E coli is a minor issue statistically.

There are lots of reasons to minimize the amount of animal protein everyone eats, including the amount of water, land and grain it takes to produce meant, the emergence of flu epidemics which come as a result of producing meat (especially in less developed countries,) and the various, routine, adverse health effects of too much fat in the diet.

But banish? That's harsh if it's not freely chosen.

No..Americans need to take responsibility for their crappy eating habits and make a change. A burger once in a while will not hurt, but if you can't control yourself then stay away from those places.
I lost 38lbs by quitting pop(sugar drinks)and no red meat except venison. Also exercise in any shape or form, and drink lots of water. Not saying it's fun, it's about quality of my life.

Get rid of the burger,YES! It is disgusting in all ways shapes and forms!Don't people realize that they are putting mostly factory farmed animals in their mouths. That means abused baby, mother and male cows from the day of their birth? They are so filled up with hormones and antibiotics to keep them alive and larger than normal so they can make more meat faster for people to eat! It's all around terrible for the animals who never see daylight and for you who eat diseased meat.If you don't believe me and want to live in denial-go for it!It's bad for your heart and causes colon cancer among many other health problems. You can get protien from beans, seeds, nuts, yogurt.all soy products and other foods and never have to touch meat at all.I do and I am alive! If you take one look at a video of inside a factory farm and if you care for animals and think they can feel pain you may cry like I did!

since it's the uncooked meat that are full of these bacterias...

Now when working with beef and pork, one must know that it's the pork that is the most dangerous when it comes to bacterias. cooking pork rare is a really bad idea since pigs are commonly infected with trichinellos that will not die until you heat up the meat to 70 degrees (celcius)
You can eat the meat if it is a little pink.
Now with beef however you won't find as much of this.

when i say uncooked meat, i mean meat that is not supposed to be eaten rare! you wouldn't eat a piece of halfcooked chicken would you?
