Last year, a former chef named Dan Restione, based in Seattle, offered up a definitive critique of the word 'foodie.' He blogged, 'Whence comes this terrible term? It seems to have crept in from some dank wood, overtaking and displacing the formerly used 'gourmet' in the last 10 years.' He argued, 'It's pretentious, childish and ridiculous.

As I have been asked to leave many a fine restaurants all over the Country.
