Checked this place out a few weeks ago and decided to try again tonight. It's true, they are still working out the kinks, but the great atmosphere and friendly staff makes up for it.

Plus the juicy burgers are some of the best around. Served on a great roll with amazing sweet pickles.
Worth another shot for a friendly, casual terrific burger..

I enjoyed the turkey burger very much. It was fresh and juicy and I would order it again in a heart beat. Probably as good as any beef burger I have had. I also went once for coffee and desert which was very good. I found the staff to be friendly. I'm looking forward to going again or maybe just doing take out.

Did you give them an opportunity to satisfy you?

I went there last night and had a potentially horrible experience turn into an excellent one.

Me and my wife both ordered bacon cheeseburgers cooked medium rare. The burgers were overcooked and we hate a well done burger. I also ordered a baked potato and after the food was brought out, they informed me that they had just run out of baked potatoes. I was pretty mad at this point they were pretty busy but I can't understand how it took so long to realize they were out of potatoes.

I'm not one to usually complain, however the owner came over and noticed that we didn't look happy. I never usually send food back, but the owner insisted that he make it again. It did take another 8 minutes or so for a new one to come out again but this time it was perfectly cooked and instead of the potato, I got a corn that was really sweet.

After we finished the owner was very apologetic and insisted that we never hesitate to say something if we're not 100% satisfied.

Not only that but I only paid half price for the meal and he also gave us a $10 Gift Certificate for our next visit.

Mistakes do happen, but they seem to go above and beyond to rectify any problem.

They just got written up as the best place on Long Island under $10. After having an initial bad experience due to very slow service, I must say this place has come a long way. I was in and out within 35 minutes whereas the last time i waited 40 minutes just to get my food after ordering. I give the owners, whom from what I understand took the place over after the initial opening, a lot of credit for turning this place around. The food is very good at a very affordable price.

this place was worse than any other place around. everything was soaked with grease. The owner/mgr. with the eye patch couldnt even put a sentence together as he tried to explain why the meal was so awful. They were out of diet soda, pickles and yes, getting close to running out of burgers too as we were told to hurry up and order. YUCK!!!!!
bunch of whiners

I live right in Merrick. This place opened less than 2 weeks ago. Ive been in the place 3 times since it opened. The staff at the time consisted of only 2 of the owners and 1 waitress running the place. Everything was EXCELLENT from soup to nuts. Business was very slow and I told them just give it some time and it will grow. I was in there thursday night and the place was 3 times busier than I had ever seen it before. The owners hired a brand new staff and were training them that night. Things were a little slow but I understood that the entire staff was brand new. I'm sure business was even greater on a Friday night. If the service was really as poor as you say, I'm sure the owned was more embarassed than ashamed. Which, in fact just goes to show that he really cares Wat can you expect going from no business to a full restaurant overnight with a crew that has only been there one or two nights.
These guys will eventually put it all together. I suggest that you wait a month or two and give them a second chance.
I was ther last night. The service was quick and polite. I had a 9.5 burger with cheese and 2 sides. The burger was cooked just to my request, medium rare and my companion's was cooked medium, as she requested. The french fries were delicious with just theright amount of salt. The tan and black onion rings were interesting, but not my favorite. Because the toppings were extra, the total price for two burgers and two sodas was a bit higher than a diner, but it was worth it as the taste of the burger was better than most, and certainly better than most diner's. I would suggest you give it a try.

sorry to say but i must agree with most people in this forum. the burgers were fair but the service was acaulyl horrible. i went there with my girlfreind and the waiter acually had the nerve to ask if we were brother and sister after a few attmepts of hitting on her. besides that it took too long to deliever the food and the fries were cold

My order came out overdone, I sent it back, and they gave me another one, ALSO OVERDONE. I asked for medium-rare, and they gave me medium/medium-well, TWICE. Fancy that - a burger joint that doesn't know how to cook burgers!

Anyone who has any clue would realize this chef is just a food-tv network hack.....He doesn't know the first thing about food or the business. I've been in the business for twenty years....All the people that have hated this so far have good taste and class and are thye same type of people. All the people that have liked it were typical gaudy fakes who were clueless about culture and will go any were for a $20 meal and claim it's good because they are too cheap....It's in Merrick!!! Doesn't that tell you anything?
