Most animals kill their prey within seconds or minutes. They don't torture their prey. Have you ever been to a slaughter house? Do you want to eat the meat of a downed (sick) animal? Do you know how long some of these downed animals lay their suffering until they are killed. It's not minutes or even hours, but days. For all that think PETA and the HSUS are radical nuts than so be it. But at least there is people out there that are concerned for these animals that are tortured. All you have to do is look on the net and everyday you'll find some nut that was arrested for torturing an animal. Unfortunately only a few are found everyday and there are so many others that are not known about. And tomorrow they will kill again. We need these so called radical nuts to take out the sadistic, vile, vicious, cruel, and mean people out of society. Proven fact that all serial killers started with animals. Lets hope non of these serial killers gets to one of your family members.

In Humans the consumption of meat is a matter of choice, Humans are omnivores meaning you can survive on just vegetables as well as meat, A cat on the other hand is a true carnivore meaning it would die if you just fed it carrots.

Animals are just that, animals, and they act on instinct. People are able to think for themselves, and most have enough morals not to want to torture defenseless animals. You can kill an animal and eat it without torturing it. Besides, most predatory animals hunt prey that has a very good chance of not being caught, unlike the animals we keep and cage. Also, predators are highly skilled at what they do. Most of the violent ripping and thrashing the animals do with the mean is done after the prey is already effectively dead.

By the way, from what I know about the HSUS, they are not a bad org. and I have nothing against them. PETA, on the other had, I am not a supporter of. They may have good foundational statements, but they have radical and unnecessary tactics which do nothing but attract attention to them and away from the animals they are supposedly trying to help.

I'm glad HSUS and the Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights have merged. The American Veterinary Medical Association is too watered-down and passive. Shouldn't an organization that supposedly exists to help animals stand up for them? The AVMA needs a change in management. Maybe this merger will wake them up.

Why can't people grasp that there is a very big fundamental difference between people and organisations that espouse animal welfare (AW) versus animal rights (AR). ARs believe that non-human animals should not be used by humans in any way at all, including as pets - and let's face it, a lot of pets live very miserable lives. AWs on the other hand accept the use of animals by humans but it must be in the most humane way possible. Just one example of why people question the true agenda of the AVMA is by the group's continued support of the production of foie gras - a totally unnecessary and inhumane use of animals.

I'm glad that HSUS and AVAR have joined forces. The AVMA does not serve the interests of our pets. We need a new group who will fight for our pets and their rights.

Check out a blog article on the merger here: http://vegtalk.blogspot.com/2008/02/humane-so... .

Hey Joni and Sue - Did you folks get my emails? Sorry it took so long but work has been real busy and so much going on at home I haven't spent alot of time on the net. I think I need a job less demanding. How about a job where we can play with the animals all day and get paid for it? Anyway I hope you're all fine and the ctitters too! Catch ya later.
