Just shows you where the world is going--especially since Asheville has been invaded by the 'funny' people.
Wonder if Harry Potter was 'funny' too.
very sad~~~

It's sad that folks like you won't accept that Halloween is a fun time for kids and kids at heart to pretend and play and use their imaginations. Thank goodness people like you are so bent on taking the fun out of everything don't run our country.

I don't know who this Richard guy is, but last time I checked we have been Celebrating Halloween for many years. What makes you think that we would quit now? Do you honestly think the recognition of Halloween is the reason the world is turning for the worse? One more thing; is the world really on a downward spiral, or is it folks like your self just making it seem that way?
|
||||
Yeah, okay you have some issues. To most folks Halloween is just a fun time for kids. Don't misconstrue it into something it isn't. We can't help that there are devil worshipers out there that practice their little seances on Halloween. What's the difference between Harry Potter and the Smurfs??!! You have issues. |

Cant say I know the difference, but I will tell you this. My other half sent me an email one time with a dirty ditty about Papa Smurf and a blonde one. I cant see a "smurf" or a "smurfette" anymore without laughing. It was bad! |
|||
Yeah, I've seen that dirty email. Twas quite funny. I think everyone on here that is familiar with me knows I believe in God, I try to go to Mass as much as I can with my work schedule, but I just can't fathom how people can try to make Halloween into such a BAD thing! I mean that's one of the most fun holidays for kids! Even as an adult, I can remember the excitement of getting dressed up and going trick or treating. I think the worst thing I ever was was a ghost. I dressed up as Punky Brewster one year. What shame! LOL |

I'm with you Drew, I love Halloween, me and my kids have a great time with it. I am Christian,(a bad one) but one none the less. Everyday id God's day, but trick or treating and playing dress up I am in no way shape or form worshiping or honoring the devil. If you'll notice most Churches now have their own trunk or treats and parties, they figured out Christians want to have a good time too. |

Actually, it's the fall equinox, not the winter solstice...and Harry Potter had some very humorous passages in the series. |

Why no announcements for Halloween this year?? this is last year's announcement. Maybe it's too early...or maybe there's no money for it this year.....:(

I noticed that too. I guess some people have to have something to complain about even if the news is a year old. LOL |

OH PLEASE!! This is the most ridiculous discussion. Richard: are you serious? Asheville has been "invaded by the 'funny' people"? I'm assuming you are referring to the wide diversity of people that this WONDERFUL city holds... gays, lesbians, hippies, goths, yuppies, rockers, christians, jews, artists, bankers... you get my drift. Welcome to the real world. If you are really that ignorant and unaccepting, maybe you should move to Mississippi. Asheville has no room for folks like you.
|
||||
HEY RICHARD: do a little reading and you will learn that winter solstice has absolutely nothing to do with devil worship (nor halloween; it's in late december), and that Christian holidays were in fact heavily influenced by the Pagan calendar (such as winter solstice being in december). Open your mind! Apparently you are one of those FUNNY people who don't bother thinking for yourself and one that listens too much to your public television, ill-informed, manipulative televangelists. |
