Hi. I'd like to see if anyone can give me some advice. We have a white Pekin female, approximately six or seven months old. She started laying about 6 weeks ago and everything seemed fine until one morning when she came out of her house quacking incessantly. We were worried enough to take her to the vet, who xrayed her and discovered that she was trying to pass a soft egg. He gave her a shot of calcium and we bought some crushed shells for her to peck in her pen to help up her calcium level and she has been fine since then. She's laying reliably, eating, drinking and swimming, but she's started the incessant quacking again the past few days.
Does anyone have any experience with anything like this? I'm a bit worried about her (especially since she's my son's pet and he was quite upset when we had to take her in), but she seems fine... aside from her constant quacking. I'd take her back to the vet, but there doesn't seem to be any reason - she's active and eating, plus the vet was outrageously expensive and I don't want to make another trip if nothing's wrong.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Jodie

Hello, we also have a hen duck who will not STOP quacking. We live in town and not supposed to have ducks and just over the last 6 months she quacks non stop and it is SOOO loud. Im afraid we might have to get rid of her because she has the loudest quack of any duck I have ever heard, its like a goose honk. Its driving us and the neighbors NUTS. Any ideas??
