I don't believe that many real Italians use that much Iceberg lettuce for their salads. The only "authentic" menu items at Johnny's may be the sauces, if indeed those are. For everything else he starts with low-grade ingredients and goes downhill from there. The muffalettas are made with some type of sandwich rolls and such a teensy dab of olive mixture that you can't even see it, much less taste it; the salads (as already stated) are basically Iceberg lettuce with unripe tomato wedges... There's much more to Italian cooking that pasta and a couple of sauce options... After eating at Johnny's the first time, I figured he'd be open a year, tops. And that was before he started shaving off the days and times he was open, which is always the death knell for any business.

My wife and I both had fantastic dinners at this place. I had Angel-hair with Meatballs. Wife had Fettachinni Alfredo with Chicken. Both great meals. We had Olive Tapenade for Appetizer. All awesome. Waitress attentive and knew menu well. Owner come around dining room making sure everyone was pleased. He is a very sincere person. Will be our favorite Italian restraunt in Bandera.

The Greek salad has more olives than it should be. I mean this is a good way! The real winners are Cajun-inspired specials, live music.'Dining' choices in Bandera are darn limited. When you tire of Mexican and fast food, see Johnny. He always makes you feel welcome!
