Thank god Bethlehem has a paid, professional fire department.

Volunteers would have lost the entire mall..

Evacuation of the WestGate Mall? Is that a joke? There have been phone booths with bigger crowds inside.
The same for the South Mall, if it did not get robbed now and then, most people would not know it is still open.

I hope you never have to be rescued by a "volunteer" department! Obviously, you never volunteered for anything. People like you should move far, far away.

That makes two of us!! But, it's not likely, they never rescue anyone, they're too slow arriving to even save the foundation! Plus, they don't even make an effort to fight the fire until there are 150 of them on the scene, fires SCARY!!!!

I actually volunteer for a number of very worthwhile services, I drive for meals on wheels, and I volunteer at a local animal shelter.

How about yourself?

You the same firefighter who posts on all the fire sites trying to make trouble???? Get a life!!!! Find something better to do!!!!

Everybody needs to ignore this guy. He gets off trying to make fun of other people!!!

What the hell does volunteer fire fighters have to with anything. they are just as good as professional's. Volunteer's dont get paid and do it out of their heart. Id like to see you fight a fire. Thats right you would probably shit in ur pants. Dont say anything about a firefighter regardless paid or not. The both leave their family to risk the unkown!

That's the problem...having at one point been in that industry...and dealing with them personally...

They are notoriously known for not having preventive maintenance preformed on their equipment nor are they known for paying their bills when it was...

This was bound to happen....only so much can fall underneath a gas fired bagel oven without getting caught on fire.

And those same professional firefighters lost nearly half a block of 9th Ave a few years ago...sorry to be so blunt, and I mean no disrespect to the fine group of men who dedicate their lives to saving others, nor the homowners who were affected by that fire, but I needed to make a point. Where I live, we have an all volunteer fire department (my daughter and son-in-law included) and they have a great track record of saving more structures than they've lost. To make the comment you made is terribly disrespectful for those who put their lives on the line (without pay) for our safety.
