As with most restaurants, some days are better than others at Sweetie Pie's. I eat there for lunch at least 3 times a month. When they opened, the choices were very limited and I appreciate their (lightly) expanded menu. I have been on Sundays when they serve some of the best rolls I've ever tasted but waited an hour for my food. I've had the grilled chicken salad and felt like I was eating more gristle than chicken. Then again, I've been in and it was all wonderful. The portions will certainly fill you up.

I don't go at supper because the menu is sparse and with small children, it's not kid-friendly although I think they've tried to rectify that a bit.

All in all, it's not a "have-to" kind of place to eat but it's a decent sit down meal...good enough that I do return.

I enjoyed Sweetie Pie's. It wasn't all that bad. Pretty good actually. It was a little greasy, but I like it that way, LOL! I'm from TN and was visiting family there, if any of you come to Nashville, check out Morton's Steakhouse. Best in the south east, I swear!

I think the rebeyes are an acquired taste. I had heard a lot about Sweetie Pie's for a long time.
I went there before a football game last season. On the first bite I was not impressed. By the last one I was thinking about ordering another.

It's is so different from any ribeye I have ever had.

I am going to the Decatur-Gainesville basketball games (in Decatur) Friday night (Jan. 18), I plan to get a to-go order after the game, if I can, and bring it home to my wife.

My wife and I eat there probably twice a month. Overall the experience has been very good. I allways like the house dressing they make and the baked potatoes are great.Only ever had a problem with my steak once. Other than that Ill be back in there soon. Probably tomorrow.

Worst service I've gotten in a very long time. Was I ever wrong. We drove 60 miles to Decatur for Saturday lunch. The waitress was lazy and rude, the french fries were so greasy I couldn't eat them (baked potato is only available for dinner, the steak was OK. But certainly not good enough to drive 60 miles again. My suggestion, eat somewhere else.

My wife and I just ate at Sweetie Pie's and had the ribeyes.

They were both done to perfection, and absolutely wonderful.

Maggie is a superlative waitress, who at first I assumed was the owner. She just had that manner about her, a conspicuous and sincere pride in the restaurant along with effortless knowledge about its offerings.

So impressed am I, that I'm recommending it as a Lunchwaffe destination for our airpark neighborhood gang, who are continuously in search of high-quality fly-in dining destinations for Sunday lunch.

I just got a Forum password...

'Talked to Matt Brothers, who manages the restaurant and mentioned we might fly en masse up for dinner.

Super guy, very helpful.

I ate, or tried to, at Sweetie Pie's last weekend (3-8-2008).
I love Babe's and have eaten at several of their locations, so I was looking forward to eating at Sweetie Pie's.
Big mistake. The steak I got was so full of fat that I thought I was eating blubber. I finally gave up on it. The salad was what I call a "honeymoon" salad..."lets us alone" which isn't necessarily bad. But the lettece was dry and crammed into the bowl. Just trying to get my fork into it made it fall all over the table.

After the waiter brought the food to the table, we never saw him again. No drink refills, no "do you need anything," no nothing.

I was really disappointed because Babe's is so good. I won't go back again and I'll tell my friends to stay away as well.
I went to the Babe's website to send an e-mail and could not find a link to contact the company.

We went to Sweetie Pie's on our way home from Lawton, Ok-we heard about them on the radio but live too far to drive over just for lunch or dinner. We LOVED it! Everything was great. And we are real foodies- we love fine dining and cooking at home and we know when we find good food for the price point paid. We plan to return whenever we are out that way!

Sweetie Pies is a FABULOUS Dining Establishment with GREAT FOOD and Good Service! This restraunt could do well in ANY City in America. These above Bozos that bad mouthed it must have a vested interest in some close by restraunts. DO US ALL a favor and stick with your McDonalds and Golden Corral. Sweetie Pies is AWESOME!

I have read most comments about this place, for what it is worth I have to put my two cents in. I just moved here from NC. I have been all over this great country of ours. I love to take pictures of old buildings and courthouses.I enjoyed the atmosphere, beauty, and cleanliness this place provided.Their service was friendly and readily available.I found their hamburgers and fries excellent. Given the opportunity I will be back to try their steak.I would recommend this place to anyone.I am convinced that if any one had a complaint about anything the management at this establishment would make things right.Just look around you will find the manager( He is the one looking sharp in his cowboy attire.) readily available moving from table to table stirring conversation and eager to hear what you may have to say.

FYI - The Cow Camp and K-Bobs are no more! See who lasted longer!
FYI- Cow Camp is still open and K-Bobs owner retired after the place was open for many YEARS.
I live in Wise county and frequently dine out. My husband and I tried Sweetie Pies shortly after it opened and we were very disappointed. The steak was terribly thin and had no flavor.(you had no choice of how it was cooked). With the response from other people maybe we need to try it again, but once you get burned it's hard to go back.

My family and I traveled from Denton to try Sweetie Pie's last night. We were seated immediately and were served our drinks within 5 minutes. The waitress also brought out yeast bread good enough to make you "slap your momma." The steaks (medium rare and medium well) were cooked to perfection and needed no steak sauce or anything else. The salads were crisp and well dressed. The baked potatoes were wrapped in kraft paper and cooked in pine rosin. I have to admit that this sounded odd to me at first, but wow! That was the best fluffy baked potato I've ever had anywhere. The order of chicken fried steak was delicious, although the gravy was way too thick to be enjoyable. The only real complaint is that they need more choices on the dessert menu. The pecan pie was very nice except for a lack-luster crust.
Overall it was a wonderful experience. We plan on going back soon. The place needs a web site to represent it.
I have no idea why the others on this forum bad-mouth this place, except that any eatery has its off-days. Perhaps they work at, or own other eateries near-by?

You should stick to pork chops! You are obviously not a steak eater. The marbling (fat) in the steak gives it the tenderness and flavor!!

This is a great experience on the square in Decator, Texas. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxing. I like the shops around Sweetie Pie's. I will be back and I will invite my friends.
