Lived in Amarillo most of my life and most people here know that the food at Big Texan sucks and the prices are high.

I think the food is excellent. The prices are slightly higher than other places, but still not bad.

In my 40 years of living here you are the only local (if you are local) that I have ever heard say that. But to each their own.

The Big Texas has great food and the place will always be on the Map. We can be Proud to have Bobby Lee and his people here in our city. I do not know why some people use this area to talk bad about others all of the time. I guess some people will always be stupid!

I love Amarillo, and always support it. I just think there are a lot of better places to see and do in Amarillo other than the Big Texan. It was built to be a tourist trap and it makes a nice one. I just wish other establishments in town would be supported and receive other than local attention instead of everyone that comes here thinking that is all there is.

I always have to tell people, there is much more to Amarillo!

I don't live in Amarillo but as an outsider who has lived in Dallas and Forth Worth,I say the Big Texan is okay. Just because some don't think it's awesome doesn't make them stupid. is everyone suppose to think the same way? To think so, is really, really stupid.

Maybe you should go read some of the reviews about the big texan (hotel and restaurant)if you are finding yourself confused.

The service behaves exactly like a tourist trap, declining refunds and having you pay in full before you can even see a room.

The hotel rooms in particular are a germfest.

I thought it was an o.k. restuarant (not great), kinda tourist-trappy with the "eat it and it's free" gimmick, but the food was'nt terrible or anything. i thought the breakfast bar was pretty good.

I love going to eat at the Big Texan! each time I have been there the staff treated us very good and the food was cooked better then most steak houses in the area. It is also a great place to do and and all company parties and things of that nature. It has been around for many years now and people all around the world honestly know about the place. The breakfast bar is very well stocked in the mornings and the price in the mornings is very fair. Bobby Lee and his family put a lot back into the Amarillo area and should always be supported

I lived in Amarillo for twenty years, and I only ate at the Big Texan once (for a group meeting sort of thing). I did not find it horrible, but horribly overpriced. I never recommend it to my friends who are traveling through Amarillo. I believe that the Lee family provides a good venue for tourists, but it would never be my personal choice.

anybody ever finish the Big Texan, got the free meal? I think it's a bit classless to make it a sirloin.

I live in Amarillo and I don't know anyone that goes to the big texan voluntarily. They usually go because there is some sort of event out there like a business meeting. Bobby Lee has personally told me that he is a vegatarian. He told me that he isn't in the buisness of selling steaks, but entertainment. He also told me that he sells pepsi products because he knows everyone hates pepsi around here so they will buy tea. They tea has a higher profit margin since it is made in the truckstop bar of a restaraunt named the Big Texan. They also don't have steak sauce. Another way to keep profits up. They try to tell you that their steaks are so good that they don't need sauce. Looking at the reviews, 90% of them are a thumbs down for this Amarillo Steak place. Like most people say in these reviews, I live in Amarillo and never eat at the Big Texan. If the owner won't eat his own product, why should anyone else? I personally love Texas Roadhouse. If i'm eating steak, that's where I'm going for steak. You can get their from I-40 by exiting on Georgia street. Texas Roadhouse is on the south side of I-40. Another place to avoid in Amrillo is Tootntotum. This place has the highest gas prices in the state and forces all the small mom'n'pop stores to keep their prices high.

i used to live in amarillo and really enjoyed it there. the big texan was touristy to say the least. the food was mediocre but you didn't leave hungry.the best steak i had there or anywhere for that matter was outlaws. i think i was on 3rd ave ext. at any rate it was out towards the airport,i found it by mistake. sorry but now amarillo's best secret is out and i wouldn't dream to think of putting steak sauce on it. better stop now, i'm getting hungry for a strip and a shiner.the hell with it. i'm coming back to texas. you people are the greatest

been to amarillo lots of times but have never eaten at the big texan. i have heard it is good and i like good food but i don't see the sense in eating just for the sake of eating. i think trying to eat a 72 oz. steak is ridiculous and it's gluttony. why overfill your stomach like that, it might sound like fun to begin with but just think how miserable your insides are going to feel by eating that much.

I guess you know me and was there when I had the conversations with Bobby Lee.... Unless you are Bobby Lee because it was just me and him having the conversation. I take your post as a threat.... I bet you are the passive aggressive type that flips people off while driving down the highway and then runs from them if they follow you. LOOSER
