Its about time somebody done something. The school meals is the only decent meals a lot of children are able to get. The school meals are not whats making our kids fat and lazy. Its the lifestyle they keep out of school such as vegging out on the couch playing Xbox and eating junk food. Having parents cater to them 24/7 doing as they say. Doing nothing but eating junk food and absolutely 0 outdoor activity!

Well said, you are right. Most kids now days wouldn`t know how to live without all of the electronic games and toys.It is to easy to give kids these things instead of taking them outside to play,or do sports and other things to be active.

Both of you are right some kids don't even it at school because they don't like the foods and how they are made they get it cold and i think you should let the families deside on the foods as long as its not just junk food

The point is that for what ever reason...the parents dont care... dont have the money ... are druggys or what ever the kids only decent meals are at school. These same parents are not going to go to the effort to pack a lunch.

It doesnt do the kids any good if the dont eat the lunch provided.

Beside you can only pack certain foods for lunch. When they served a good lunch the kids got a variety of food which encourages them to be less picky eaters.

They should be schools, not restuarants.

I didn't say gourmet meals!! I just said that it was a different meal everyday of the week. When you pack a childs lunch you usually have p&j sandwich, chips, snack and juice. It gets old fast! I can't stand people who take an innocent comment and have to turn it into something negative!!

You can pack anything you want in your child's lunch. The school cannot tell you what you can or cannot pack in their lunch. My daughter takes what she wants when she wants. Some kids even take pop in their lunch. The only restrictions is they cannot take glass bottles. I asked my child's principal and teacher at the start of the year. Quit whining and pack your kids lunch. I eat lunch at my daughter's school at least once a week if not more. There is nothing wrong with the food. Parents should teach their kids to eat food and not junk food all the time.

Isn't it kind of hard to pack a "real" hot meal? I've been told mine doesn't have an accessible microwave in their cafeteria. The school aslo would rather parents not bring their chldren's lunches in, but they have let it go on. These children are not allowed to share their lunches with the other children.

west virginians) over feed our kids, that is just a fact
Parties at school

You know that it is silly that teachers are not allowed to give a decent party at school either. Its not like they have them every month. I would think that 3 times a year, the state department would relax the laws and let the kids have a decent party. I know they still have donuts, cookies, pop etc. at the teachers meetings in summersville. I bet the board of ed. isnt
giving up their sweets.

Are you a complete idiot or just an idiot in training? Some parents can't afford to feed their kids even ONE meal, let alone three. For lots of students in the public school system, two meals a day is all they get. And in the summer, they're sh!t out of luck! Jerk.

There are no chips and snacks at school. And they already use whole wheat bread which actually tastes like soggy cardboard.

Again, are you just stupid. Some parents can't afford to pack a lunch. They have problems affording ONE meal a day, let alone three. There are people other than yourself who can afford a sandwich, chips, fresh fruit, and pop for their kids.
