Hello all, I have not indulge in eating clay/dirt for 4 months. However, I have been reading the forum and staying abreast of what is going on and if any new clay is being introduced. I see that Mavu will be selling Roasted Nakumatt clay soon. I still get my cravings at times but reading your comments and sticking with my iron is helping. I still like to try different clays so I definitely would like to get your feedback on the Nakumatt clay that Mavu will be selling (Mary Tyler). Until then take care.

Wow munni....you are downright lucky !!! I've been trying for ages to get my hands on white dirt. I've emailed goodoldirt at their international shipping email address but no response. If you know of someone who can ship this to.me, i'll pay for postage and shipping. I dont mind trying the red dirt as well...never ate any red dirt in my life ( can you describe its taste and texture pls ) But aren't you also almost 9 mnths pregnant ? Pls stay safe...

Actually i wanted to post a completely different comment but seeing munni enjoying white and red dirt in my own hometown made me greedy but coming to my original post. Well i've been consuming slate pencils for over 18 yrs now and have had my share of abdominal and anaemic issues alongwith gall bladder stones, had to have blood transfusions.in the past as my haemoglobin count dropped to 4. I usually experience severe stomach pain which is spasmic in nature but dosent last more than a few mins but the past 2 days have been bad.
My entire abdomen is in pain esp lower, i finally decided to go visit a specialist and get tested. Will also share my pica story with him for proper prognosis as god knows how much i love the taste of chalk clay slate pencils but this is bad, harmful and i have to stop someday. I hope my scans dont throw up something new. So long then people....take care

That scares me :O, in my past I had eaten chalks, fullers earth and pottery(2-3 pieces which I left after having the taste). last month I bought 2 packets of slate pencils for the first time at first it tasted nasty but after having 3-4 big sticks the taste developed was beyond expectation... crunchy and creamy...I finished the two packets(15 pieces each) in a week!!! but now, i am craving the taste so much... usually i take 2-3 month gap because of non availability of fullers or slate pencils which I think is good for me... as whatever happens, happens for a reason! I am hoping to get some red clay (my dream clay :D) in future...

Hey Indian Chalkie,

I'm sorry to know dat ur trials to get ya dirt/clay from Goodole'dirt haven't met ya expectations!!

I may not gaurantee u but I'll try to help u out to get some white dirt fr u to get ya hands on!!:) pls wait fr 2 days n I'll let u know wot I can do about it . ok !

N yes, even my favvvv dirt/clay to try z da red one!! If I see ny earthy things outside I feel lyk taking it n smelling them to see if its really earthy (U know da smell of fresh rain!) n wud lyk to take a small piece out of it n chew ! Such z da craziness of the RED ones!!! I guess da color itself sends out an indication to ppl lyk us to come near to it lyk, Red clay, Red clay pots, red dirt, Red soil roads, muddy walls etc etc... ;) lol!!

The red one which I got was lil soft, but very little gritty. Hence didn't totally satisfy my taste buds. N dint get ny earthy taste from both white n red ones! Da real taste I'd luv to have must b earthy, crumbling, crunchy, gritty as if wen I try to bite it, I shud feel its lil hard to bite n shud feel the crunch (if u knw wot I mean! ;)) N SHUD NOT MELT ALL OVER MY MOUTH!!! Hence, I lyk da clay pots (matki)which gave me da taste n smell I wanted!!

N as its my 9th month of pregnancy, I'm taking all da possible precautions n making myself controlled towards not having clay very regularly thinking abt the effect it myt have on my baby(if at all it has)!! Thanks fr ya concern :)

Take care :)

Hi Munni! ya slate pencils are available in most of the parts of india for writing(elementary kids) but Now, as the time has changed there are few shops left who sells them coz the no. of buyers have been decreased... the place where I live, there are no shops who sells it except those waxed chalks which I don't like(the last piece of chalk I ate was 2 years ago). so once in 2-3 months I use to buy mulatani mitti(as here only powdered packets available) and slate pencils(brought first time last month) which I can buy from some other place while travelling. but I must say slate pencils are so addictive, tasty and crunnchhhyyy!!!

Meh, I agree wid u..

ppl r managing mostly wid chalks available to write on slates instead of slatepencils!!

Yes, they r much more attractive n addictive!! ;) even if u eat a whole chalk u won't find it soo interesting to have another fr a long tym but its nt da case wid slate pencils!! I feel lyk buying more packets of it, wen I found a box is about to finish! but see the irony, both r used fr same purposes!!! ;)

Ok I am at work and I have been craving for clay since Thursday . The ghana type is what I like best. I am planning on getting some clay after close of work and start munching on it. Will keep you informed about how earth it is though. I think $2 will satisfy my cravings then I will take a dewomer afterwards and kill all the parasites in my system. I really want to stop this bad habit . Any advice ?

I have never thought of doing this, but I have now read that there are people who do this for - calcium and people like us with cravings.
Most people would think that all the things we eat/chew are disgusting, and I don't see where egg shells are any worse (as long as they're sterilized). They seem so sharp though!
I'll have to take a little bite next time I boil eggs.
Well today I boiled eggs so thought I would try a bit of shell.

Must say nice and crunchy, but they didn't really do anything for me - the shell I tried didn't have any taste.

I've been eating more fruit and veg lately, plus taking iron and calcium and see the difference already. Pleased to say no chalk at all yet today, although I do feel a crave coming on. Maybe just one stick!

All things clay, you are the most gracious person on this forum. Very non-judgemental and quite experimental. I had thought the egg shells when crushed into a powder would be almost like clay ... Haven't had some clay in a while now .... Missing some . I wish mavu could stock up soon.

Hi Odowa Lover, thanks for your kind words!

I'm missing clay too - has been so, so long since I've had real clay chunks which is why I've been making do with alternatives.

I will be in the UK before too long, and can't wait to order/buy from stores various clays! Hope Mavu Seller has a good supply then!
