You're not alone. I consume paper all day, every day. Sometimes it is an obsession to find the right piece of paper. I absolutely love McDonald's napkins. I know the disorder is called Pica, and I have had it since I was a small child. Now I'm 40. I also have family members who eat ice and Argo corn starch straight from the box, so there definitely seems to be some propensity to consume non-nutritional items that has some genetic connection. Sometimes I worry about it, and have asked a doctor or two about the negative affects. After they finish looking at me like I have two heads, they just say "its not good for you, stop eating it"

My family is originally from Mississippi and I was born and raised in Cali. I never knew about eating clay until I became pregnant and wanted something.
I went to every store trying different foods and still couldn't find the taste I was looking for. I called my great aunt and she went to the "hills" and got me a box of mississippi red clay. She cooked it in the oven before she sent it to me. Prior to my consumption of this I was anemic however my daughter is 6 years old and all blood test confirm that I am no longer anemic. It's just like Scott from AZ said, melts in your mouth like chocolate. Any one can bad mouth this if they want however it has been around since humans roamed the earth. I love the taste and need some more. My aunt is gone so anyone know where I can get some clay from AZ?

Prego Clay lover, where in MS is your family from? I also LOVE clay and am looking for a good source to get it. I've tried every kind. Had white clay shipped from Georgia (that gave me headache) dug my own when i went to Arizona (me and my daughters LOVED that til it was gone. Bought the African kind from the African market (ok, but not like the red straight from the ground) and have tons of bentonite, pascalite, and terramin clays.
If anybody knows where to get that goood red clay, please let me know.

I have been eating clay from about the age of 7 or 8, when my mother used to ive it to me. I can confess that I am addicted to eating clay, and it has become a habit, that I do not particuarly want to stop.
I generally eat what is called calabash chalk. There are differnt types, but I eat the small grey one, shaped like a egg, which is described by Ghanaians as 'Ayelo' or 'Shile' I know what the health risks are, although i have done a lot of research on this topic and I have not found any confirmed cases of lead posioning, or the other side affects often described.
If you like eating chalk, please let me know. i am certain I am not the only one.
yesu are not the only one that eat kalabash chalk i always buy it from the african chalk everyday day and i spend 100 dollars a week for it i am so addicted i try my best to stop but am so used to it....i just crave for it alote.i know the one you talking about and i eat those sometime i eat the salty once but i like the gray and white one better....it has a very bad side effect its not good for the body, every time i eat it i find it difficault to use the bathroom,i dont know if this is normal.

I crave that chalky taste and I know it because I have a tumor(pitituary) and I may lack some minerals. Back in the day my grandmother used to eat a reddish clay lookn dirt from an embankment. I found a calciam supplement from shaklee that gives me the same satifaction(osteomatrix). Its perfect since im in the age group where we need more calcaim. They are not relly chewable but I do.

I just told someone else I found a calciam supplement from shaklee called osteomatrix not chewable but I find it very satifyn. And its good for you since ur pregnant.I eat about 6 to 8 per day.Warning to much caliciam will cause some loose bowels. You will know if you eat too much!

I love eating clay. I also love eating the egg shaped clay from Ghana, but I also prone to eating the salty clay from Niheria. I do not understand this addiction that I have to clay. The thought of it makes my mouth water. I do want to stop as people tell me that it can affect fertility. This cooncerns me. Although realisticly I am not sure I can.

I would love to hear from from other clay eaters!!!

What the deal with eating clay. I eat a ton of it and I am 40 and have never had any health problems. Kaolite tastes like rain with a hint of peanuts and it melts in your mouth like chocolate. It gets rid of heavy metals like murcury, so it doesn't give you murcury. It binds at the molecular level to get rid of toxins and heavy metals. My brain has not suffered like most in our population due to vaccinations and being injected with these metals.
Human beings have been eating dirt and clay since we left the cave. It is just that society shuns what it doesn't understand. You can get help for it if you want, but it is perfectly natural. I would never recommend just eating dirt of the ground, bateria and parasites - but clay from Georgia mines or Red Teramin clay is fine.
It is possible that you are lacking a nutrient found in clay and that is why you may feel the need to eat clay alot.

That's weird. To calm my craving for strange foods I drink Vita Coco.
