I'll give credit where it's due. Kids do need to be taught how to eat at school. Half of all American parents are dumn as dirt when it comes to nutrition, and these kids need to unlearn the bad habbits. Healthy school lunches should focus on introducing kids to a wider variety of foods: less of the starchy and greasy staples, and more fresh vegetables, beans, and quality meat.

That said, minimizing calories should be less of a priority. Folks are misguided when try to impose a Cosmopolitan Magazine "skinny butt" diet on teenages, especially young men. If a football player (or anyone else) wants a second helping of chicken, then give it to him, so long as he eats all his vegetables.

google images for micheles school lunches, there is some real garbage in there. Most kids that have 2 working taste buds throw it out. My grandkids parents take 2.25 for school lunch and it's not edible. The gibmedats who get free lunch from the taxpayer wallets just throw the garbage away. More and more scholl systems are opting out of the federal school lunch program as the waste and schools expense just isn't worth it.
It's not a win
if it is in the bin (trash).

3 Minnesota public school districts have discarded Moochels "healthy diet" because all the expensive food ends up in the trash.

I've seen pics of the lunch. Most do not look edible. I'd rather have a peanut butter sandwich from home with some fresh fruit and maybe some string cheese. I don't agree with the schools that force kids to take the school lunch and forbid them from bringing a packed lunch. We never had that here, thank goodness.

The sheboon should butt out, she has no say in the matter, the food served in public schools is nothing more than food built in a factory and then warmed up and served, years ago they actually employed qualified folks that cooked real food, now they're too lazy.
