Who would have guessed that the recipe for Joe Jost's pickled eggs the exact same recipe for garlic bread??

I don't think that's the case here. I think this is a matter of Tim Grobaty's writing skills, related to being too fat. I think once you get too fat, you don't care about things that you used to care about deeply, like metaphors.
I think Tim is too fat. If you doubt my word, look at his current picture. Look closely. One of his chins is actually a piece of garlic bread he's holding for later. Look closely.
