El Paso's fast food institution has filed a lawsuit against a new Austin, Texas restaurant that makes a product very similar to their rolled taco signature menu item.

1 So, you mean the only reason many tourists come to El Paso is to eat Chico's mystery meat rolled up into an old tortilla and plopped into a mystery sauce? We are doomed! |

Let them be, chicos canīt afford to fight a lawsuit in austin. Besides anyone can buy those premade FLAUTAS from the people who make them. They are not made by chicos nor are exclusive to that crappy butt chicos. How about we talk about them famous el paso fur tacos instead! |

I like my Chico's and have eaten substitutes and nothing compares. Why? I don't know. Disgusting dirty buildings that can't possibly pass health inspections legitimately, but that's part of the corruption thread, and rude, but efficient counter help still don't deter me from getting my fix. The same is true of the famous Roscoe Burger. Grease soaked paper bag and all. I can feel my Cholesterol rising as I type. In conversations with one of the Mora's I asked when they were going to open one on the west side. He told me he guessed when one of the family members moved over there. It is strictly a family affair. As to the lawsuit, I support the Mora family, as the Chuco owner is from El Paso originally and Chuco's is clearly and infringement on the name as well. I wouldn't worry too much though, unless the recipe is the same, it just ain't Chico's.

1 Hey, Gerry -- only a moron would fail to realize that I intentionally misspelled the word because that's the way it's spelled in the profile photo. Now go eat your Chico's before you look any dumber. |

We posted in this forum to clarify about what Tacos Ahogados are. Also to clarify that El Paso is not our market, Austin is in terms of us doing business and serving food there. You took our comment out of context and presented it as if we don't care what El Pasoans think in general. Some of the comments above ours are from people outside of El Paso so this would not strike a reasonable person as a forum exclusive to people living in El Paso. Your handle says your location is Spring, TX which is further than Austin from El Paso. As for the dimwit insult, well... |

This lawsuit is crap. To coin the rights to rolled tacos would be ridiculous. What ever happened to having a free market? I've actually met the owner and he was a nice guy. To try to rob him of his business is stupid especially in our monopolistic society. It's not about El Paso or tourism(which is the stupidest argument ever), it's about running a business. Good luck Chuco! 512's got your back |

I agree!!! The lawsuit is bogus and it doesn't stand a chance of winning. Guess the Mora family may also feel entitled to sue Delimex and all the other frozen forms of rolled tacos that you can buy at the grocery store as well?? And since when is Chico's a tourist spot? Former El Pasoans who visit may stop in to get their fix when they visit town, but that hardly constitutes calling Chico's a "tourist spot". We live in Fort Hood which isn't very far away from Austin and we go there very frequently on weekends mostly so we appreciate any restaurants that cater to former El Pasoans. Go Chuco's!!! We stand behind you 100%!! |

The problem is that the owners of Chuco's were high school friends of one of the Mora's sons at Cathedral High School.

Chuco's is still not Chico's. And why do they care at all about what goes on in this part of Texas?? It's not as if Chuco's is going to take any business away from Chico's. It's not like anyone who lives in this area is actualy going to drive all the way to El Paso just to get some tacos from Chico's. |
