There are food stamp cuts because there is CRIMINAL fraud driving the cost of the program because in places like New York you have new, illegal or first generation immigrants sending food purchased with food stamps back to there original country.

I guarantee you it's not just happening in New York. Locally there are discount supermarkets where immigrants buy things like cereal buy the case or 4 dozen boxes at a time. At least half the people paying for food in these places with food stamp card. I have to wait because they have to process there food stamp transaction.

Any where you have large immigrant populations originating from the Caribbean especially on the east coast this same scam is going on. It would be cheaper for the US to give these countries a couple extra million a year in food aide. I would bet there is some black marketing of these same goods as well. A 2 dollar box of cereal here might be going for 5 dollars there.

As with any program they need to fix what they have first before the change or cut it.
