I recommend the article, which only scratches the surface. Cecil County's greatest asset is it's potential If warring factions would only unite, we would experience great prosperity .

Decent article, but lawmakers do not care about Cecil Co. You all may as well be Delaware's 4th county. The Casino will start and continue to lose money, and BRAC well most of it went to Harford Co. and south. There is alot of crime, there is alot of construction, new stores, etc., but I would bypass it and go to Delaware. Nice county but alot more bigger problems are ahead and with the way the politicans are good luck I mean it.

Unfortunately PA for Life, you may be right on target. There is a real problem in this County with talent and smarts in the local government. I am very familar with DE and they too have their problems - BUT the people in charge and making decisions have talent and intelligence. It is a shame really as parts of Cecil County, it is a real gem in the rough...shame on the politicians and the County for selling short. They literally are letting people do the hiring in the County who have no sense at all...why are we dumbing ourselves down??? This area has potential - we all need to demand more! Al Wein please look at your HR Department...County Commissioners look at the waste...lets all try to give more to the community.
Cecil County could honestly be a great place.

Agree. The commishes and HR are a bunch of zombies. No feeling. No compassion. I know somebody who works there and she can't wait to get the heck out.
My two cents too

I work for Cecil County too. Like any organization, there are the good ones and the bad ones. The County's HR isn't perfect, and we all know we've got three Commissioners that are doing more damage than good - but I think the new Charter govt will change things around for the better.

our methodone clinics seem to be a popular draw in town for tourists. Who would have figured a couple years ago, drug clinics would be the big draw for elkton. nobody is getting clean or sober, just perpetuating the drug culture and welfare state of cecil county.

And it is within walking distance of Hollingsworth Manor.
Now the losers that live in Farr Creek, and the top of the
loser chain Lakeside Trailer Park, will all want methadone
clinics within walking distance of their residences.
I guess the tent city losers off of Bridge Street in Elkton
are just happy staying drugged and drunk. They have no
clue!

I see one good citizen got caught with needles and heroin in her purse at the court house. I hope that was a call for help. Not just something she thought she was going to get away with.

Without the income from the out of state boat owners, paying for slips, buying gas, food and beer, you'd be worse off then you are. But I'm not among them. Maryland has many other counties. None as grimey, crime ridden and corrupt as Cecil.
