Most people don't understand that this will raise prices, negating any benefit to the minimum wage worker once the prices catches up to his spending power, while at the same time reducing the standard of living for people on fixed incomes (not everyone gets cost of living increases, or if they do, not enough to offset the REAL cost of living).
Nor do they understand that forcing employers to pay more will inevitably lead to lower employment numbers or cut hours (and in fact we're seeing some of this now... the number of people "not working" is at a record high. So is the number of part time workers, and the number of people on some type of government assistance)... in effect throwing some under the bus. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. All of this so-called "help" comes at someone else's expense.
Maybe most people don't understand the issue as well you, doesn't change the fact that the poll shows a large majority of people, from a wide demographic, support the raise. Even when I disagree with an issue I'll accept the decision of the majority, there is the chance, though not likely, I could be wrong.

Sometimes the majority is wrong too. Some will accept their decision anyway, others have the balls to speak up.

Yet others can see through the smoke and mirrors.

Since the first sentence is a bald-faced lie, the rest is irrelevant.

Two things we need.

Balanced budget amendment.

Line item veto.

Typical of the far righters, facts don't matter, just blindly believe all of our lies.

Tell me this, if the House had voted to fund one thing at a time and sent each thing to the Senate and they turned it down, who is the obstructionist?

I'm not far right by a long shot...

I dont know why so many people have issues, I live in columbus, NOT in the ghetto, I had a $9.00 a job and had a nice 1 bd room appt, cable , internet, cell phone, food on my table and did I mention i had a 2 year old. Its called budgeting so its not so much about min wage, hell they just raised it to almost $8.00 a hour and i know rent in chillicothe is cheaper then up here.

That could be a good thing. That way everybody could see all of the nutwing amendments that get added into each bill. That would expose who the corporate fetch boys are.

Let's stir this a little different:
Take away the safety nets from those who really need them because a few take advantage of them is like saying you want to take away all of the guns because a few people misuse them.

Seems like a lot of people have the mindset of being entitled to government help. If parents would teach their kids the value of hard work instead of just putting their hand out things might be different. This is what you get with the government being so imbedded in peoples lives.

Except I've not seen anyone here say they wanted to take them away from everyone.

Just got back from shopping at Meijer an hour ago. The fatass lady on front of me was pissed because the employee advised her that she'd already gone over her limit on her food stamps. Yet somehow, she managed to pull out a nicer phone than I've got, as she was leaving.
