So tell your dirtbag son to get off his lazy ass and do some real work, and he'll get some real pay. Otherwise, quit your complaining. You losers aren't going to get something for nothing.
Operating an oil rig is not real work. It's a crime against the world.

It's typical of your kind of people who never even break a sweat at your "job" complaining about all the lazy people getting free government handouts for doing nothing. If you had the capacity to research, you would know that the average recipient of government aid works over 30 hours a week. To bad you are too lazy to do your own research, instead sit your lazy aaassss in front of the tv and believe whatever it tells you.
The simple fact is this, if you tried to do one 8 hour shift of the "lazy" people you complain about, you would have a heart attack and drop dead.

The govt has no problem making live difficult for the tax paying family yet they never have touched the recipients of our tax money.

Give these mutts brooms and have them clean parks and roadways In return for their benefits.

WORK..... Try it sometime

OMG OMG!!! The sky is falling. Millions of people will be starving and dying in the streets. Economies the world over will crumble. Millions will become unemployed. Farms will go to waste. All because of a $12 reduction on SNAP cards.

Guess Obama shouldn't have made the increase temporary when he signed his stimulus package. I'm sure he will find a way to blame Bush.
Actually, it's the coal and oil, not the food stamps.

If they had purged the SNAP program of all the fraud/waste/abusers, they would not have had to cut it...

It simply amazes me that the government can shovel out close to 600 bucks a month (that's just on average)(~$7,200 annually) to SNAP...
The result = America is morbidly obese...
While at the same time, millions are still starving to death.

And, cutting back a mere 38 bucks a month is supposed to spawn even more starvation and the end of the free world as we know it.

really....?

SNAP is just one program.
Kids still have to get breakfast and lunch at school.
If there is a pro-longed shut down, they have to be sent home with boxes of food - so that they don't starve to death during the break...

Where is all that SNAP food going?
Why can't the kids survive a 3 day weekend?
How can the kids still be too under fed to learn any thing in class, if they have redundant sources of food?
How can they be obese and starving at the same time?

They shouldn't be snipping SNAP.
They should shut it off for a month or a year - then rebuild the system from scratch.

In it's current state, it is not doing anything..
The hungry are still hungry.
The obese are not loosing weight or sleep.

Shouldn't hurt much since we are already feeding these starving kids 2 meals a day at school nowadays.

I am for the food stamp program for those that are deserving because life has thrown them an unexpected curve ball but it should be a temporary thing. Also, it should be limited to actual food, no junk food of any kind including chips, pop, candy, baked goods, bottled water and sugary drinks, sugar loaded cereals. Nutrition classes should be held at neighborhood churches where it is mandatory for attendance after you sign up to continue receiving assistance after the first time. Now, with that in place, the only ones running around in bad health and obese would be the people who can afford it.

You tell her to raise family on such low wages, which is why the rest of have worked hard to better ourselves to not have to. Thought it was interesting on news they had woman say she'd like to see the people making these decisions come into her home and make the food last. How about saying thank you for the several hundred a month food assistance you get that we are paying for? Like I've said before, if you can't support your kids they should be put in foster, rather than our taxes take care of lazy parents in order to feed those kids. I'd rather taxes give as much to a foster family to raise kids as it was the bio parents. Time for a change....and the truth hurts!!!
You are blazing idiot. When your cushy job fire or lays you off then what?(Assuming you have one) everyone falls on hard times. Disrepecting someone elses kids shows your character. Cutting snap does hurt families, but on the other it is a wake up call to what is ahead. Folks must find away to SURVIVE! Think folks and think hard.

Its easy to point the finger when the situation is not your own. Not every person collecting food stamps is a lazy uneducated cretin; Just like not every asshole with a well paying job is selfish tyrannic prick with no compassion.
get an education you say:
There are some people who cannot afford to go to school. School costs more than money it costs time, energy and sacrifice. When you gradate, you will be paying back so much in student loans you're right back where you started. Poor.
Get a job you say:
Where do you suggest getting a job at that would pay enough to cover rent, food public transportation or car payment and if you have them to feed your children? You will start to cry about that if they take YOUR JOB. And then your bills will become past due and you will be in the welfare line. And you're put right in the predicament welfare recipients are in.
Once you have actually felt hunger, and you have no money to feed it, you might grasp what its like. The situation deserves monitoring AND compassion. Not everyone grew up with parents that know how to manage money, or could read or had opportunities to go to college on their parents money.
You would rather pay taxes to foster care homes?
Have you even taken time to look a the statistics of foster care children?! Most of them are treated like cattle, and it almost guarantees they will be in prison, or selling this prescription drugs you mentioned, alongside being raped, beaten, abused and even neglected. And for the record, THERE ARE FOSTER PARENTS STEAL MONEY AND ABUSE THE SYSTEM AS WELL.
SO whats the answer?
it takes attention and time to arrive at a solution.
There will always bee the poor, and as long as society has a conscience, the poor will have some sort of relief. But if we kill this conscience by cutting them off, what will you do if you lost your job? The day will come when your situation is less than perfect and all your bills are paid. Trust me.

You are right- thank you--why do some people who have NEVER been on public assistance GET why some people are and not think of them as dirt? It has to do with parents and thank God for the ones I had-- Its all in the luck you have thru life, right time, right place.

Been through many rough times in my life, bills unpaid, hard time finding a job. There are good people getting assistance, but I think even more who are abusers of the system. If you have kids, your not made to work any hours for compensation, even though many of them are home alone while their kids in school. Like I said before, social security being paid to parents for their kids being ADHD and behind their peers academically is ridiculous, especially since most are behind due to the parents who are getting the checks. Money shouldn't be paid for disabilities that don't require anymore attention than a typical kid.

As for foster parents, there are some bad ones in the mix, but they are regularly checked upon and they are being weeded out. Tired of hearing people complain about the system not giving enough when they are ones who have never paid into it. Difference between assistance and handouts.

Your son has to start somewhere, as we all did. It doesn't mean t hat they can't work their way up, continue their education and/or work towards something better. That's the point of "work."
If you want cheap cost of living, go to Mexico, or Cuba or Iran for all I care. See how "easy" it is.

Minim wage isn't designed to be a permanent life-long wage. It's a starting-out wage. You are expected to improve your skill set and move on to something bigger and better. If you haven't, there's something wrong with YOU!
